| You forgot Collateral. Sure, you could say that Jamie Foxx stole that one from him, but I'd strongly disagree. Even if the ending was a disappointing copout, that movie was 100% about Vincent and it was easily Cruise's best role. About the only other example I can think of is Vanilla Sky. While the movie itself was yet another unnecessary remake of a superior original, I don't think Cruise got upstaged by Penelope Cruz even though she was playing the same part for a second time. I'm pretty sure it's not possible for anyone to be outacted by Cameron Diaz, so he had nothing to worry about there. One that could go on your list would be Minority Report. The wooden balls that came out of the murder machine were more interesting than Cruise's character in that movie. And In the Mouth of Madness, John Carpenter's last good movie and one of his best. |

| i have a huge man crush on Val Kilmer so i tend to think hes underrated. old stuff like real genius and top secret! are hilarious and his performances in both heat and tombstone are some of the best ive seen. i also think natalie portman gets shit on a lot because of how terrible she was in star wars, which she definitely was, but i really think she was great in stuff like closer, v for vendetta. she was even good when she was very young in heat, beautiful girls and mars attacks!

| Collateral and Mr Brooks are some of my favorite movies. I love dark characters like that. It's so much more interesting to try and understand them. I can't leave Hannibal Lecter off that list either... Maybe Cruise shoulda been a bad guy a long time ago.

+1 Internets | Not really sure if Adam Sandler could be considered underrated, but that would be one of my picks. Click and Reign Over Me were pretty awesome. Don Cheadle would be the other guy, based on his roles in Talk To Me, Hotel Rwanda, and Reign Over Me.

| These were the two that came to my mind almost immediately. Couple more... Underrated: Ben Kingsley (his performance in Sexy Beast is particularly good) Overrated: Nicholas Cage (he only has one facial expression. shoulda called it quits after Raising Arizona) |
