A roundabout way of saying Religion isn't actually the foundation of any kind of law and that rather it was a tool used by greedy men to manipulate people into following their will? Man discovers agriculture, and prospers. Guy down the road see's buddy growing cucumbers and thinks rad, I want in on that action. buddy says sorry dude I can't grow enough for you to have some to, go hunt for your food and hope you don't die. Guy decides to fight man and kill him for his cucumbers, he prospers, some other guy decides to do the same, fails but doesn't die. Decides to recruit more buddies to take down guy for his cucumbers, buddies don't want to die. Guy tells them that when they die they go to a happy place and that they needn't worry about it since death is only the beginning buddies trust guy, do his bidding, kill other guy and live merrily in the cucumber patch. Patch grows bigger lot's of guys decide they want in try to fight other guy , other guy continually builds his army of cucumber defenders. More men decide they don't want to die for cucumbers, society based off of greed and neccessity and laziness forms, power hungry men use made up texts to conive men who don't want to die to fight for them in the spirit of going to a greater place, heroism is born etc etc. Power hungry men become scared of rebellions form more complex religions to ward off inpure thoughts and quell the herds and gain more control over the people and the cucumber business prospers. 2 millenniums later we all hail religion for giving us our unscrupulous pure "morals"

You don't like cucumbers because of the phallic symbolism right? Like it's some sort of insult to your manhood and thus you could never fathom protecting them with your life? Cucumbers make pickles, pickles are about the only fruit that is good on a hamburger outside of tomatoes if you class them as such, which is a redundant argument I suppose since cucumbers fall into the same genre confused category . Given that hamburgers are fucking delicious, if I had a choice of defending one fruit I submit that none is more worthy of my life than cucumbers since it's the only fruit that I eat with meat, and if I can't eat meat, then life isn't worth living. Also pickles are good with cheese, Tomatoes, not so much. Last edited by Surlok TP : 06-21-2008 at 06:10 PM.

| I'm always amused that in these threads there's always a perfectly logical and reasonable philosophical argument which is immediately dismissed for shitslinging and hee-hawing. Good job, guys, you just proved you are retarded. |

| Registered User | AMAZING movie to see the first night when it's all like minded people in there. Bill goes a little overboard in the interviews at times but the premise of the movie is solid and the conclusions at the end aren't comedian Bill talking but philosopher Bill. |

| Saw this the other night, had a good time. As should be expected it doesnt really delve into issues and employs creative editing at times. Its just Maher making fun of people. But if you enjoy that sort of thing its really funny at times.

| Still don't understand why people are so sensitive when someone questions their religion.. One would think that the best way to convince someone is by leting them question you on your faith.... Hmm but that would mean having answers for... you know the questions.. HMMM

| It had to have opened on like 15 screens. The searches I ran on RT for locations told me to go fuck myself.

| Saw it in Houston today. Completely packed theater, lots of laughs. Only a few applauds at the end. I wish that he had done a part harpooning rabid atheism in the movie the way he's made comments off screen, just to add some legitimacy, but it was hilarious and absolutely horrifying sometimes. The chick in white with the perky tits flashed during the 'the Mormon god fucked Mary literally in the flesh' scene was pretty hot. |
