Underworld 3

Underworld 3 - Rise of the Lycans

Apple - Trailers - UNDERWORLD - Rise of the Lycans

This is the story of Lucian and Viktor's daughter (so set in the far past obviously), and looks to have some badassery in the action scenes and special effects. Wasn't terribly impressed by the 2nd film, but loved the first.

As an aside, Kevin Grevioux, who is the huge black dude who plays Raze the werewolf with the deep deep voice co-wrote the trilogy (original story was his idea), and apparently is also the current writer of Marvel comic book New Warriors. The inner geek in me found this kinda neat. More info:

Quote:
He graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in Microbiology, afterwards attending graduate school and this time working towards a Masters in Genetic Engineering. While studying, he congruently took screenwriting and cinematography classes as well, and by the time his first semester of grad school had finished, Kevin had chosen film as his preferred career and moved to Los Angeles, where he began to work as a writer in earnest. To this end he has written several scripts in various genres and has written and directed two short sci-fi films Indigo and Thanatos.
Call me judgemental, but trips me out when you run across these people who's physical appearance and mental abilities seem to clash so much. Pretty cool.

Looks cool, one of my favorite parts of the first film was how dark everything was. Its good to see they went back to that in this installment.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it. Wasn't as big a fan of the second, but the first underworld was a lot of fun. Loved the dark atmosphere and cool fight scene.

Loved both, looking forward to the third though I hate it when movies that are clearly not designed for "another one" to be made "go back" to a prequel format. The first thing that comes to mind is Episode 1/2/3.

First Underworld was excellent. I loved the world they created, and the backstory to the lycans and vampires.

My only complaint was what happened to the hybrid at the end perhaps that should of happened at the end of the third movie instead. And I liked some of the characters they killed off in the first one as well.

The makers lost the plot on the second one when the characters turned on God Mode. Its funny I can remember just about the entire Underworld movie but very little of the sequel.

Btw +internet for the background on Kevin Grevioux.

Seriously. I liked the first one as well but the sequel was ridiculous. After a while, the suspense of the characters' battles became insignificant as you just knew, no matter what, the main characters would not die.

I wanted to like both Underworlds but just couldn't do it. First of all, the only vampire worth a shit in the first one was Viktor; the rest were just goth kids that took the big leap and starting drinking blood (even Selene spends most of the movie running from the lycans, by which she is so grossly outmatched, despite being a "slayer"). The premise of vampires vs werewolves is a fantastic story (hi2u whitewolf) but they manage to completely fuck it up by giving both sides bullets that are lethal to the other. Great, you've now reduced two of the coolest mythological creatures into little more than a bloods vs crips turf war and we have thousands of years of awesome mythology spewing bullets at each other in the subway, fun. Selene almost drowning in the first one almost made me walk out of the theater. Way to have no idea what you're doing folks.

I thought about that last one a lot actually, and argued with a friend about it having something to do with the myth that vampires can't cross running water, but I refuse to accept they were going for anything that obscure. It's instead infinitely more likely they just needed the hybrid (who looked goddamn ridiculous at the end btw) to save her so they could advance the love interest.

That being said, I'm sure I'll see this one, mostly because Viktor is awesome and there won't be any retarded "UV bullets". Leave that shit to Blade 4 in 2020 when Snipes gets out of jail.

I liked Underworld 1 and 2 about equally--which is to say that they're both among my favorite movies. If 1 had had the budget and backing that 2 did, it would have been a vastly better movie, but well... it didn't. Kate also had more than a few days of training with weapons and fighting for part two, so that she could actually do some hand to hand scenes and wirework. Plus when she fired a gun in Evolution it didn't look like it was going to break her wrist.

Really looking forward to the prequel though. It appears to be keeping with the dark tone, graphic violence and gore, and [most importantly] the hard R rating. I think Rhona Mitra was the best possible choice for the lead role too, at least once I got past the idea that Selene would be written out of it. She may not be quite as hot as Kate Beckinsale, but she's a hell of a lot more believable in a physical role.

Hope they manage to write that hot blonde vampire in there somewhere. Sophia Myles done up all gothic in a tight black bodice is worth the trip to the movies just by herself.

I hated her character in Underworld, so I'm glad that she was far too 'young' a vampire to possibly appear in the prequel. Speaking of characters from the first movie, I am horribly disappointed that they brought back Shane Brolly for this movie. He is possibly the worst actor I have ever seen in a big-budget production, and the best part of Evolution was the fact that they killed him off almost immediately to save the audience the pain of having to watch him stumble through his lines again.

I found her annoying and not amazingly acted yeah, but that doesn't mean she wasn't really hot.

I didn't mind Shane Brolly that much, I mean he was annoying as fuck, but that was the point. He was supposed to be cowardly and self serving.

Looking forward to seeing more from Lucian. Thought he was a great character in the first and was pretty sad to see him die off at the end instead of being in the second.

I liked both films yet still agree with a lot of what Ronne said. This prequel looks pretty cool, too bad we know how it ends :] I hope they have an equally ridiculous sex scene like the one in Underworld 2 where the hybrid fucks Selene's bellybutton.

Both films had the action and unless you thought about what was going on they were decent movies. Looking back there was so many parts that made the vampires look lame. I mean the dude with the whips for example...silver bullets barely stopped them and you bring whips? Even if they were silver cool-wHips I am surprised he lasted as long as he did.

I have two full clips of endless anti-werewolf bullets so I shoot the floor to escape as a slayer? Viktor is a beast and they best part of those movies glad he will be back. As said above putting it back into the dark ages is going to be sweet.

That sex scene was hot but completely out of nowhere. On a side note I didn't realize gerard butler was the vampire in Dracula 2000. It was on TV the other day heh.

There are like 92871635 myths around vampires... using your logic, in Bulgaria everyone almost left the theatre because the vampires in the movie had 2 nostrils instead of one ( I am not even making that stuff up ).

I can't stand the second Underworld because they talk up William as the baddest ass Werewolf ever and to top it off, he is insane. When they finally release him, he is huge and scary looking and looks like he is about to whup some ass, then they kill him after like 3 minutes of screentime. They could have had an epic movie with an insane white werewolf running around, but they fucked it up. It is almost unforgivable.
