The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

I hadn't even heard about this until I saw the preview last night before Indiana Jones.

I'm a huge fan of David Fincher, and it will be interesting to see him work with Brad Pitt for a third time.

I'll keep an eye out for the trailer.

[edit] The story
Fitzgerald's short story first appeared in the 27 May 1922 edition of Collier's Weekly. Later that year it was included in his book of short stories "Tales of the Jazz Age".

The protagonist "Benjamin Button" is born as a feeble old man, and ages in reverse until he becomes a baby at the end of his life and finally ceases to exist. Fitzgerald noted that "This story was inspired by a remark of Mark Twain’s to the effect that it was a pity that the best part of life came at the beginning and the worst part at the end." Button is from a well-to-do family in Baltimore, Maryland. He is able to live a relatively normal middle portion of his life when his biological and chronological ages are not too drastically far apart, but has more problems at either end. The story is in part comic and part melancholy.
Sounds.... challenging. What was the preview about?

I saw the preview before Indiana Jones and it looked really interesting. I willl see it. Basically Brad Pit grows up back wards and is born at age 100 and gets younger each day until he is a baby.

Um, Mark Twain died in 1910 and the story itself first appeared in 1922. Pretty sure that's long before Star Trek.

Because Star Trek never copied themes from earlier works.

David Fincher is a hardcore badass. I haven't seen his work in a while. I'm betting he has something up his sleeve and this will turn out pretty good despite the inauspicious-sounding story.

I was excited about this film until I saw the trailer before Indiana Jones. It left me (the trailer, not Indiana Jones) extremely underwhelmed. Can't say I'm eager to see it anymore.

I dont think Brad Pitt is right for this role.He just did'nt seem to match with the person I invisioned in my head from the story.

I would normally agree, but I caught the trailer before Indy today and he looked surprisingly good in the role. Seemed like some excellent makeup work done to get him at each age.

The trailer was definitely subdued, but it still made me want to see the movie. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

My friend is doing some form of special effects supervision for this production. He works for digitaldomain. He mentioned this project to me a while back. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Why is it the first thing I thought of when I read that....... Jim Carrey coming out of the fake rhino butt in Ace Ventura when nature calls........

I'm interested to know how they handle a fully grown albeit feeble, 100 year old being born without it being... messy.
