Yeah but Fight Club is good even if you don't have a fucking clue. You don't have to make up some random shit to justify the movie's mindfuck.

I like Donnie Darko because I do "get it" and it's fun to laugh at the retards who didn't.

Has anyone ever listened to the Donnie Darko director's commentary? They call Donnie a superhero more than once. I don't get it.

I also clearly didn't understand Natural Born Killers or Starship Troopers. Those were two more commentaries that I just didn't see eye to eye with.

There was something open to interpretation in Starship Troopers?

It was supposed to be anti-war and to show that everyone who engages in war becomes a fascist.

Personally I found Neil Patrick Harris's arguments compelling. I must be a fascist for sympathizing with him.

Fascist.

Their anti-war statements were just too humorous to be treated as serious discourse.

Who wouldn't want to do their part at home by stomping on cockroaches? I mean it looked like some serious fucking fun.

It was supposed to be biting example of propaganda and you are a fascist for think it was humorous.

Honestly, that's what the whole commentary was like. It was fucking awful.

Thank god Ed Wood wasn't around for DVD commentary.

i always thought Starship Troopers was a propoganda film for fascism, they even have the heroes dressing almost like nazi stormtroopers. its also odd that NPH's hometown happens to be in a part of south america where its rumored all the nazi war criminals fled to after world war 2.

Heinlein wrote the book in response to people against nuclear weapon testing. The book is blatantly pro-militarism and details the importance of meritism in a democracy. It's pretty much reads like a pamphlet for why civic responsibility to a federal agency should be required for participation in in democracy.

Neil Patrick Harris's character is pretty much Heinlein personified and Heinlein was pretty much Pheonix.

Isn't the book gigantically different?

I actually thought the system of government shown in the Starship Troopers movie and which you are describing as a large focus of the book was pretty slick.

Why not make sure you contribute to society before having a say in our government?
