| Final Cut Pro is apparently the best amateur video editting software... so I'm told, anyway. I used a compiled ffmpeg to split/convert/whatever, but I don't do it for moviemaking purposes. You need a lot of RAM to edit HD video btw. Enough that running a 64bit OS on it's own partition can be worth it.

| I think that as long as you get to learn how to do editing, you can get away with having a cheap camera instead of HD. Specially if you learn how to do color correction. I personally use Final Cut Pro. It's the one that I feel most comfortable with. I''ve used Adobre Premiere before, and I don't know... I really didn't like the feel of it. I've never used vegas, but I hear it's really good. As for other stuff, worklights are the chepest kind of light you can use, but they are cheap cuz they are hard to use as a "controlled light" setting, but get creative. Look for videos on youtube on how to do lighting. Like someone said, find a camera with Mic in. In a movie, audio is 51%, video is 49%. You may have the best short film, but if your audio sucks... people won''t enjoy it as much. Some of my better short films have sadly suffered from this ![]() If anyone is interested and you have facebook, here are some of the videos I''ve made FlyFeNniX | Facebook |

| Go to college and take classes/get a degree in editing or whatever field you want to specialize in. Your movies are not going to be good unless you properly learn how to do so. Other than that, buy a mac and rent the cameras from your college of choice. |

| we bought a camera for our band, dropped I think almost 600 bucks on a canon (dv tape) mainly just for filming shows. We've filmed some skits and some pretty horrible music videos but its fun as hell and a good learning process. I think the software our other guitarist uses for editing is Sony Vegas, I've never tried it, but Premier is always a good way to go. Just find something you're comfortable with and stick with it. Good luck! |

| Do what we did and go buy you 3 Canon HV-20s. They give the best picture for the money. With three you can do 2 coverage shots and a 2 shot of the same scene and make your film more dramatic by switching between the three angles.

I just started watching one of your videos (I'll finish it later) but did you ever notice that people who aren't seasoned actors walk funny when being filmed? I noticed it with the girl in the beginning of that one video. It's like they are thinking about walking. Edit: I'm not bashing your film just noticed that.
