It's Justin Chatwin who played Tom Cruise's son in "War of the Worlds."

Holy shit thats beyond horrid. I was thinking the movie would be bad, but goddamn. Can we just take the money that was going to be spent on this movie and give it to Trey Parker and Matt Stone to make a 2 hour anime like this instead?

As far as I can tell, it's following the manga somewhat (as far as I can tell...).

Set pictures always look cheap, so it's not really a good indicator of whether or not the final product will look cheap.

I won't completely hate on it until I see a trailer, but I think this is going to be as epic as that Double Dragon movie.

I am expecting a more over the top fight scenes then end of Matrix III. Anything less will be lame.

When did anime become popular in the US? I always felt I was too old and that it was something the younger generation got into when Pokemon became popular. I'm 27 btw.

Anime became popular (I'd say) around the late 80s and early 90s. Robotech and all that shit was very popular back then. I fell in love with Ranma 1/2 earlier, tho.

BUT, it was never THIS popular until I think either Pokemon or Digimon.

I hated dragonball. Pretty much the worst show I have ever seen. Hope this movie dies a flaming horrible death.

In the late '80s, Robotech and Voltron became popular. Then in the early '90s, DirectTV had a pay per view ch for anime. They played series like Guyver and movies like Black Magic M66 and Macross Plus. Around the same time, SciFi played anime on Saturdays with shows like Akira, Record of Lodoss War, Iria: Zeiram the Animation, and Vampire Hunter D. That's what started my love of anime. I think the local fox station in this area played the first 13 episodes of DragonBall in the late 80s on Saturday mornings, but it sucked so I never watched it.
I was a fan of the later Dragonball episodes, but much more a fan of DBZ. I'd rather watch Bleach or Naruto over DBZ though.

It's always a good personality test to ask someone to sort the Alien movies from worst to best. Another one is DB vs DBZ (hint: the sensible answer is not DBZ).

That episode was so awesome. That song is catchy, too.
