ROFL. Joe Dirt is NOT as bad as Gigli. No way is it even near that bad. David Spade was awesome in that movie. Also, Cloverfield bad? Cloverfield wasn't 'bad'. It was a decent monster movie, all though the acting was pretty bland, and it was incredibly short. I liked the whole premise, but again wish there was more monster mashing at the end. There needed to be more of a finale.

Joe Dirt was good.

This kind of movie is why people pirate. The failing upwards nature of Hollywood folk leaves us with no choice but to test the waters prior to putting money towards the full experience.

This movie was just ugly with bad acting/plot. It does seem to stimulate the same region of the brain that Uwe Boll movies acts on though. A bad B movie that takes itself serious.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A pandemic of unknown cause is spreading across the northeast of the US, mysteriously within well-defined borders. Victims experience loss of speech and physical disorientation; they freeze, and then unfreeze to commit suicide: people jump from buildings, shoot or hang themselves, one feeds himself to lions in the zoo, some cut themselves with a hairpin, barbed wire, glass, or a grass mower, drive into a tree, etc. The initial assumption that it is a terrorist attack is abandoned.

The protagonist, a science teacher named Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg), flees together with his estranged wife, Alma Moore (Zooey Deschanel), Elliot's best friend and colleague Julian (John Leguizamo), a math teacher, and Julian's eight-year-old daughter Jess (Ashlyn Sanchez). They travel by train until the train stops at a small station, and train services are discontinued.

Julian separates from the group, trying to reach his wife; at his request Elliot and Alma take Jess along. Julian gets a ride, but the driver, affected by the toxin, crashes into a tree. Julian survives the crash but, also affected by the toxin, kills himself too.

Meanwhile Elliot, Alma, and Jess get a ride with a couple, of which the man explains his theory that the plants attack people as a defense mechanism. At a crossing cars with fleeing people from all directions meet. A soldier takes charge, and advises people to proceed on foot. Elliot, Alma, and Jess are accompanied by two boys, who are killed by a man living in a house which the group tries to enter to get some food.

Elliot deduces that plants and trees produce an airborne neurotoxin when the number of people that are present is larger than a threshold, and also that this threshold is decreasing with time.[1] Finally even isolated people are affected. Elliot, Alma, and Jess can stay in a house of a women who lives an isolated life. However, she gets suspicious and tells them they have to leave. She goes outside and, affected by the toxin, kills herself. Elliot and Alma prepare to die, and, one being in the house and the other in the barn, have a last conversation through a speaking tube, but then go outside to meet, to die together. However, the pandemic is suddenly over, and all three survive. They adopt Jess (not only Julian but also his wife has died). Three months later there is a new outbreak in Paris.

And this will win worst movie of the year. It will be up there with Joe Dirt, Gili and all the other stinkers in past years.

Also I read that Lady in The Water only made $42 million dollars and ended up losing money so nobody would back M Night on this movie and so he financed it out of his own pocket. He might not be making movies anytime soon if this movie does poorly and judging by the reviews I bet it does horribly. No studio will back him anymore. He had the green light after The 6th Sense but after these last 2 movies the poor guy might be all done, which is sad because he has talent as a filmmaker, just not as a writer (Except for the 6th Sense and Unbreakable)
joe dirt was the shit, please consider suicide

I can't seem to find how much money was spent making The Happening on the web. Does anyone know where to find this information? I can't imagine that they spent too much on this film considering there were very few special effects (which looked like shit) and everything else was just fans blowing plants. I'm pretty sure they used a helicopter to make the grass blow in the one scene where they are in the field too - the pattern looked exactly like a helicopter was flying overhead. Even if the film makes $15-20m in its first weekend and then tanks due to word of mouth, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets most/all of his money back (and maybe a small profit).

It is just too much a combination of other elements. There was a good bit of Cell by Stephen King in this and M Knight flat out stole scene premises from other shitty movies.
