I'm still convinced Morgan Freeman died, and his "journey" to the beach was just him meeting Andy in the afterlife. The beach is too perfect, the way he got there finding the clues was too improbable, and there's nothing for miles around as it pans out.

Or maybe I'm just trying to rationalize one of the worst endings to one of the best movies ever.

Interesting theory. While the end end may be a little too perfect and cheesy, I think the parole hearing is absolutely brilliant, so how would you fit that into the theory?

Saint Peter is the head of the "parole board" and is trying to find out if Red is finished with Purgatory or not.

Oh so the whole thing happens in the afterlife then? So Andy killed himself after the murder thing? Was he really innocent and just in purgatory for killing himself or did he do it and freak about prison...or kill himself in prison!?!?! Man that movie wasn't as straightforward as I thought!

But yeah, I think King just went with a cheesy little happy ending. It wasn't even a full novel originally after all.

Which is even more of an insult to The Big Lebowski.

Anyway, the reviews of this movie so far make it sound like it might be worth the price of admission if viewed as a comedy.

The Big Hit was great!

Just the right amount of cheese.

RE: The Happening, they are overtly advertising this as his first R rated film.

If The Big Hit was great, the only reason would be thanks to China Chow.

I thought sixth sense was decent the first time you watch it but other then that I think the rest of his movies suck balls. Signs is quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. It's been said already but the guy takes a good premise and has just retarded plot twists and endings. That all being said I thought that trailer looked great, and this has the potential to be his best movie yet.

I hate M. Night, I really do. I found his movies just pretentious garbage built on highly predictable formulas with absolutely inane twists. I give The Sixth Sense credit for being reasonably ok, and being the "first", it had something, but how many movies now bear out the same formula.

When I first saw the trailers for The Happening I thought two things: one, oh, more M. Night garbage, fuck this guy. Eventually the trailer started to win me over and I toyed with the idea of seeing it, but in the back of my head I just knew there was some utter bullshit twist that is outright stupid.

Anyway, read some spoilers and they just made me smile. It sounds like it may be the worst movie of 2008, and I hope they stop letting him make movies. Then again, I might see it anyway just to see the terrible unfold.

Red band trailer made me really excited to see this movie...

...until I heard the 'twist'.

So I took the plunge and saw this today. The movie was so bad people were literally laughing coming out of the theater talking about the unfathomable pile of suck they just saw.
