The movie as a whole is average, but several parts of the movie are fantastic by themselves.

| Agreed here as well. Signs definitely had its moments, that homemade birthday party video being one of the best examples, but he couldn't hold it all together for shit.

right up until its discovered that water is acid to the aliens, signs was an awesome movie. you got joaquin and Mel, 2 very good actors a tense storyline mysterious sightings. and that scene with the creature behind the door was really scary. then they jumped the shark with that water=acid bullshit and it all went down the Lollercoaster from there. Why couldnt they just say that it was the minerals in their well water mixing together which caused an acidic reaction to the aliens? thats at least more plausible than aliens invading a planet with 90% of it being made of water which is poisoous to them.

+1 Internets | I'm interested in seeing this, I don't really love or hate most of his movies (really liked unbreakable and lady in the water though). Spoiler Alert, click show to read: Love or hate his movies, at least he tries something different. Use spoilers, ok? ~Faille Last edited by Faille : 05-01-2008 at 09:09 PM. |

+8 Internets | for starters, I don't know how you can NOT like Sixth Sense/Unbreakable. Those 2 movies were amazing IMO. That said, I thought Lady in the Water was just bad. I love Paul Giamatti but I just couldn't get into that movie. The village was okay but the "twist" was far too obvious and that made the remainder of the movie less interesting. Signs I liked. Retarded water thing aside, I thought the presentation and the overall message were cool. I think a big reason why people dislike Signs (and the Village really) is they go in expecting one type of movie and get another. It's not really meant to be a dissected look at aliens invading earth, it's more a redemption/faith story... or maybe people just hated that religious aspect :P

| Night is a cool guy. I like directors who can come up with their own original scripts not just create what someone else has imagined. Not all of his movies have been stellar, but they are unique and that is whats severely lacking from Hollywood these days.

+2 Internets | I liked the Sixth Sense, loved Unbreakable and Signs (the dinner scene is pretty touching, I think it's really realistic). Hated the Village though, it just got overly contrived. Also, he's a bad actor and needs to stop doing cameos. |

+21 Internets | I don't go out to movies much anymore, but I wanted to know the twist here. So I found a script review with spoilers, and it's about Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

+19 Internets | I like his movies for the most part. I don't spend the entire time critisizing it, or trying to guess the ending, I just watch the movie to be entertained and judge it afterwards. Some of you guys are way overdramatic. If an M Night movie is one of the worst movies you have ever seen, then you haven't seen very many movies. |
