Here is the Box Office take:

'The Incredible Hulk' triumphs at box office - CNN.com

Also rebounding off a bad last movie was director M. Night Shyamalan, whose fright flick "The Happening" with Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel opened at a sturdy No. 3 with $30.5 million.

I can't believe that many people went to see this shit. Until he gets cut off from the box office gross M. Night is never going to stop with his madness, stop supporting him. Its bad enough that "the Last Airbender" will probably be a blockbuster just from the cartoon recognition.

Why? The trailer looked badass. The redband trailer was very intriguing. I would have seen it for sure if I didn't read the twist and early reviews.

I was definitely interested until the reviews and comments started to hit.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
This movie didnt really even have a twist, unless you count that at the end it started up again in Paris. thats not a twist. they started goign on about the plants possibly causing it fairly early on, the rest of the movie was just suicides and marky mark whining like a bitch. If they had explained the big little thing better, linked the disappearing bees to this event and explained why the plants were pissed off only in the northeast and paris it would still be shit due to dialogue but at least it would be shit that made sense.

Because the Village, Signs, and Lady in the Water trailers rocked too...

Went to see the movie this week end. Quite disapointing ; Shyamalan didn't deliver.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
picture a mix of Signs with War of the Worlds, but without any aliens, and you get The Happening.

The Crappening.

The best thing about this movie is the poster. It's more interesting than the actual movie.

The way I understood it, the bees vanished because of human interference / pollution / damage to nature, and because bees are vital in the reproduction of plants and other vegetal lifeforms, the trees are trying to get rid of humans since we are a danger to them (like the caterpillar mentionned earlier in the movie, which the plants got rid of by secreting a substance that attracted their natural predators, wasps I believe).

The only problem with that is the European Honeybee didn't exist in North America until the Europeans brought it over...it's not like the honeybee was here for millions of years and the plants were like "wtf? mah bees!!!!". Sure there was pollinating insects, but the Euro bee is like a honey crackfiend...they will go out and recruit bees to goto spots and are very hard working pollinators.

Poster,

Bees are actually vanishing. That was not a fictional aspect of the film. Putting it in a spoiler is not necessary. It was supposed to be part of the heavy handed message of the film.

I thought the gun sharing was just peer pressure, wtf?!?

Seriously guys, this movie was bad. It was comedy. I laughed my ass off throughout. The bitch on the phone saying CALCULUS CALCULUS CALCULUS made me nearly piss myself.

Is this strike three for Shmalohan? I sure won't be seeing another one of his movies, unless it stars Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, and is titled UNBREAKABLE TWO.

And WTF is with these plants? They kill everyone in the Northeast and then everyone in France? Do they have something against liberals? Somebody in the films mentions nuclear power; France and the Northeast have lots of nuke plants (supposedly the NE, but I know France has lots of nuclear power), which are more eco-friendly than coal power plants, so I don't know why they are so pissed.

I think I know what M Knight would say about all these confusions -

The film is about a HAPPENING in nature and the events of which will never be truly understood - a.k.a. copout.

The only good thing about when an M. Night movie comes out is that I get to refer to him as Shamalamadingdong for a couple weeks in conversations.
