Ping Pong - Japanese flick based on a manga, really really loved it.
Dan in real life - Great film, surprisingly powerful.
Gladiator - A modern day epic in the vein of Ben Hurr.
The Matrix - The first one only, ignoring the 'sequels'.
Spiderman - Really, really loved this movie. The sequels were poor.
Amores Perros - I assume this was in the last 8 years, but can't be sure. Powerful movie.
Crimson Tide - I think this is more likely a 98 movie or there abouts.

Honorable mentions:
Stomp the yard,
You got served

Crimson Tide is from 95 and Matrix is from 99. I'm sure 90% of the people with lists would have included the Matrix if it was released in 2000.

You can't blame women for what they do wrong in the same way that you can't blame a dog for what it does wrong.

There are a handful of movies I see over and over in peoples top ten that totally blow my mind. And yeah, splitting up the lord of the rings movies as three separate in a top ten is pretty retarded.

Top tens... hmm. When I walk out of a movie, I can tell you it was amazing, incredible, one of the best movies I've ever seen... but to rank it above and below another movie is silly. For that matter, classifying 10 movies as better than the rest would be an impossibility for me. One of these days I should spend the time to read through a huge list of movies and make a list of "favorites", but it would probably be 30-40 long.

I'm going to cheat and just say Fight Club. That was the best movie I've seen in the past decade. If I really have to choose a movie made after 1999, I would probably pick Fellowship of the Ring.

If you really liked Fight Club find a copy of the book it was spawned from by Chuck Palahniuk. I am pretty picky about about the books I read, not in the respect of being a quality snob , more in the sense of reading just doesn't appeal to me as much as other forms of media. I was pretty much locked into this book from page 1.

While you are at it get Choke. Choke (2008) It's the next movie based on his novel's and should most likely hit a similar note for you.

I just recently saw Stardust for the very first time, and I have to say it makes my top 10 list for sure. What an excellent, excellent movie.

EDIT: And definitely major props to Stick It.
