The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)

Keanu Reeves as Klaatu? hmmm I will probably rent it when it comes out.

I'm a fan of Keanu, Devils Advocate was awesome and he gets alot of hate along with Tom Cruise for playing the same roll in movies since they know it sells. Looking forward to this

The premise of "The day the earth stood still" has always irked me. There is a Sheckley short story I recently read that deals with situation like this.

An alien spacecraft lands on earth, the general surrounds it and as soon as a portal opens he orders everyone to open fire and hammers it.

The general in the short story believed that if aliens are capable of space flight, then they must be able to communicate with us before landing. Therefore, since they didn't communicate with us they must have hostile intentions and should be dealt with as an agressive entity.

Besides that I didn't mind the original movie. And I have no issues with Keanu starring in it as I don't think it will be a demanding role.
