Like...Stranger Than Fiction? Which was a highly excellent movie, by the by.

I'd say the reason this movie is 'tanking' is because Blades was pretty terrible. It is formulaic. It's the same shit that happened to Carrey until he started being more diverse, though Cable Guy was really good and not his typical role.

But after a couple of Ace Venturas and Dumb and Dumbers... you just don't care. Bruce Almighty was key in his resurgence and Ferrell is going to have to get his Truman Show to really break out of this rut.

Be that as it may, it wasn't a smash hit. It only made 40mil domestic, 50 worldwide. People don't recognize it or think of it when they think of Ferrell. I think he will need one more role in that vein to really prove he isn't a one-trick pony to the world.

I just buy Subway and bring it in. The theatre has some deal goin with the restaurants near it so you can bring in their food/drinks. Way better then buying shit at the theatre.

The Alamo Drafthouse up in Austin serves beer. It is the most highly excellent theater I have ever been to.

Really? I've never seen a theater where I could buy beer, never even knew such thing existed in the states. Though even if I could I would guess it would be horribly overpriced so I'd be sneaking it in anyway.

When you go to the Drafthouse, you sneak in scotch, and then you buy the beer.

Maybe that's why i don't remember There will be blood

Huh?

Then again, I thought Anchorman was pretty bad, too, but you all apparently love it.

Fuck dude, I wanna go to your awesome cheap movie theatre.

Saw the movie, enjoyed it, it was kinda different from the others though...There was almost like 2 stories, a serious sports story offered by Woody Harrellson and the comedy sports story provided by Will Ferrell. At times I couldn't tell which was the real focus and which type of film it was. It was good, but....different.

My bad. Forgot to mention it's a 7 dollar matinee and not a night show. Night shows here are like 10.50 now and it's a pretty average theater. I will agree with your comments about two movies and I felt it was a really neat approach. They definitely didn't do this with Talladega nights (the whole thing just felt like one big spoof), but Semi Pro definitely felt like it was trying to create a sports movie at one point. I thought Woody was pretty good in a half and half role.
