But I'm rather aware of the risks. The worst thing I did was give myself a roofie by mistake one time (misjudged time, and drank)

What you described sounds more like E. Not that I had any experience with illicit drugs in my youth, no sir.

edit: he would've been fine if he stuck to xanax, you can take large amounts, but as long as you don't swallow a bottle you're fine. He took three different BZDs, with differential binding profiles/affinities to each receptor subtype. More, alprozolam and diazepam share the same metabolic elimination pathway (and therefore, you extend the drug half life and bioavailability for each). Moreover, xanax is fast acting and strong, but short duration; valium long duration, but not as strong; temazepam long duration and strong effect. This is ignoring the OTC sleep aid and the two powerful narcotics (which may also involve cytochrome p450, which would have made everything even more complicated, and let's hope he didn't consume any grapefruit). You either need to be a complete addict, a complete wreck, or have a death wish, or all three, to take what he did simultaneously.

I'm betting the latter two, with possibly the former, which means he wasn't just a "junkie" but a disturbed fellow. RIP.

Actually, Rush did rail quite a bit against addicts and junkies. When the oxycontin story broke, I remember seeing quotes and excerpts filtered from the years of accumulated verbal excrement he'd spewed to show how hypocritical he was.

edit; Is there anywhere where it says if Heath Ledger had actually been prescribed these drugs, or if he'd gotten them through illicit channels? The initial reports just mentioned OTC sleep pills being found on site.

Yeah, I just read that. It's over a year old, and from before the release of the steaming pile that was the third movie. We'll see if it ever happens, but I doubt it.

not gonna get into this because im not trying to derail, though the train is pretty much in the cow pasture already. Rush's show is a political show but its also a talk show. he talks about entertainment, golfing, football, cars, chicks, gadgets or whatever else he feels like talking about, but the main focal point is politics. thanks for the flame though, it means so much.
