This afternoon I was in the area in downtown Boston and we walked by the Boston protest with my room mates and their friends. About 200 some people were there protesting the church, they gave us cards for (Stop Scientology Abuses | You Found The Card) and talked to my room mates about the Church and the stuff they've done.

I went to the Chicago one today, was pretty damn fun. Got some pics and video, going to have to fuzz out some faces though, just out of courtesy. I wasn't at the Feb 10th one, but looks like we had more peeps today, and the overall mood was amazing. Cops seemed to be on our side too, after some initial bitchiness from one.

Would use a block color circle instead of fuzziness. They recently caught some pedophile by using some kind of algorithm to get rid of the blur/swirl filters so it's not foolproof.

I'm not sure there is a point in responding to this as you seem to have wandered down the wrong path using extremely faulty deductive reasoning. Some religious people and relgions actually do some good, imagine that.

Get out see the world, don't just read the papers and let the media inform your opinions. From personal experience I was in Africa on medical relief missions in 1997. I was actually surprised at how the vast majority of the help and support there was from organizations with religious affiliations.
It isn't all done under the guise of 'promoting' their religion aka proselytizing.

I guess it's still considered intelligent to just jump on religion as the smart man's move but you sure sounded pretty damn stupid there.

I don't understand how they can legally arrest those guys. Were they doing something wrong? And how did they pick them out as the organizers? Really curious to see how that plays out.

Because this isn't about attacking a "religion". This is about Scientology not allowing anybody to speak freely about their beliefs. You can go to any other religion and ask them what they are all about, and they will happily tell you. Scientology will charge you money to find out what they are about, and if any of their members try to speak about it they find themselves in trouble. The point of these protests is to uncover the lies about Scientology and bring some attention to it so more people have an understanding of what they are really about.

I'm going to make a guess -

Cops knowingly make illegal searches all the time. The idea goes that even if all the evidence gets tossed out of court the crook won't ever get back those drugs and to get back his gun he'll have to ask a judge. It isn't very likely. Who knows, you might even be able to get the evidence that you obtained illegally to stick. Either way it is a win from the cop's perspective.

I think it is probably the same with arresting the leaders. The police don't really know what is or is not going on so they arrest a couple of their best guesses to hopefully diffuse the situation. The charges, if there even are any, probably aren't going to stick and that wasn't even the purpose in the first place.

God damn, I hate the Co$ and the Westboro Baptist Church.. So is anyone going to help me try and turn them against each other? I've sent a few more emails to the WBC to get them riled up against Scientology.. Im a bit leery on how to approach Scientology, to get them to start harassing WBC. Any ideas?
