Saw it with my girlfriend and her friends last night even though I really didn't want to after watching the leak. She knows more about comics than I do and hated it for the inaccuracies. I heard some muffled profanity when they pulled out the adamantium revolver (since that's where the film jumps the shark on an exploding jeep.)

A friend of mine keeps going on about what a great movie it is and how he cared about the characters, unlike most movies, etc, and how badass the special effects are. Watching it a second time, did they even fucking render the adamantium claws in half the scenes? they looked like shit. green screening when X landed to save the kids was awful. A lot of special effects were awful and it really stands out the second time.

First 2/3rds awesome last third total shit. We got the deadpool ending and it was just awful.

I'm looking forward to a possible Deadpool movie, and possibly more of Liev as Sabertooth; he was phenomenal. I wish they would've gotten Brian Cox back as Stryker though.

One thing that I remember laughing my ass off was

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
when Wolverine kicked Deadpool's "lifeless" body down into the reactor, one of the dudes in the seats behind me yelled "THIS IS SPARTA". Whole place busted up. Good times.

mmmm, at least they say they'll make him more like he is in the comics. Also, Magneto movie could be pretty cool!

Reynolds to star in 'X-Men' spinoff - Entertainment News, Film News, Media - Variety

(some spoilers in article)

Quote:
Twentieth Century Fox has begun development on "Deadpool," an "X-Men" spinoff that will be crafted as a star vehicle for Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
The character is one of the most popular in Marvel Comics' X-Men universe. Deadpool is Wade Wilson, a mercenary who, dying of cancer, submits himself to the Weapon X genetic alteration experiment and emerges as an indestructible semi-sane anti-hero. Reynolds seemed destined to play the character. In one reference in the Marvel Comics, Deadpool is described as a mix between "a Shar Pei and Ryan Reynolds."

In one of the "Easter egg" endings of "Wolverine," Deadpool is seen rising from the rubble and whispering "Shhh" to audiences.

The film will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel.

Fox is also in the formative stages of a "Wolverine" sequel that will encompass the samurai storyline that was hinted at as Wolverine sat in a bar in Japan as the film concluded (Daily Variety, May 4).More than one option

Separately, Fox is developing "Magneto," a film about the X-Men villain with a script by Shelton Turner, and "X-Men: First Class," which Josh Schwartz is penning.

Sabertooth was just about spot on. My fav part from him was after he came up to assist Wolvie against Barakapool, he said something to the effect of "no one gets to kill you but me" I was like, perfect exactly the attitude the comic Sabertooth would have.

this was pretty much the only redeeming factor of the entire movie. A *much* improved vision of Sabertooth from X-men 1, and liev schreiber is awesome anyways so yeah.

Everything else ranges from mediocre to horrible.

I thought it was a positive thing that they made a big deal out of the adamantium thing in terms of how powerful it sort of was. When Sabertooth and Wolverine had their fights Sabertooth was clearly the strongest, but afterwards Wolverine beyond a doubt put the smack down and owned Sabertooth. Then we can always discuss the whole logic of why Stryker wanted to use Wolverine etc. (for Deadpool/Weapon XI.)

Is Sabretooth actually too weak for the adamantium or was Stryker lying? What's the major difference between Sabretooth and Wolverine's regen?

My sense of it was that there wasn't anything important enough for Sabretooth to be able to focus through the bonding process. Wolverine had a drive to avenge the death of the woman he loved, Sabretooth just had a love for wanton slaughter.

Can't say in the movie, but in the comic, Sabertooths is supposed to be a bit stronger, but also making him more "animalistic".
And Wolverine just flips out and wrecks the place before anyone else can get the treatment after him.

I always thought Sabertooth's regen wasn't as good as wolverines. But he was quite a bit physically stronger.

As Wolverine got more popular, authors made him stronger and stronger.
He wasn't a very strong character at first. I mean, hes just a short guy with metal claws, that could heal quick.
Now he can jump 50 ft, cut 5-10ft deep into solid metal and concrete with 10inch claws and regenerate from a single cell.

What I'm saying is, depends on who is writing the story.

Everyone is forgetting that he used to go by the name Patch also.

Anyways, from Wolverine #1, I am going to quote what he is saying about himself:

Quote:
The bullets burn like fire. Would've killed anyone else. They just make me mad.

Which is when things get out of hand. Y'see, I'm a mutant--

--born with a parahuman super-effecient Healing Factor that can deal with any illness or poison or wound. Makes me way stronger'n normal, faster, tougher. Makes my senses keener'n any animal's.

In addition, my bones are laced with Adamantium-- the strongest metal known. So they're virtually unbreakable.
Anyways, here are the covers of the first 5 issues from my personal collection. have not read them in awhile. I have issues 1-50. Might have to bust them out.

I haven't watched X-men in a while, so the first thing that popped into my head when Prof X. showed up was, "And then her clothes fall off. And I see everything!"

The fight with Gambit could have been so cool, but instead it was entirely lame. Gambit can run up walls? Really? Wolverine cutting down the fire escape reminded me of the SheildSurfboard.

In fact there were a fuckload of things that just annoyed me about the film. The whole movie I was wondering when he'd lose his memory, and then at the end Stryker's just like, these bullets will make him lose his memory! Oh really? How the fuck would you know, since you've never shot Wolverine in the head with Admantium bullets before? It just seemed completely random. Oh and later on when the general just blurts out, oh yeah your son was a mutant so we should fire you... then at the end of the movie after the credits when Stryker's walking they somehow find him, and already have enough evidence to charge him for the murder of that general.

The show started off well and got worse from there. Also correct me if I'm wrong but did they even ever explain why James was later named Logan? Did he not take Logan as a name after his stepdad because he hated himself later on?

It seemed like there were about 10 different ideas for a film here and they tried to put in all 10 and mash them together, while keeping the film as short as possible. I had high hopes and they fell pretty short here.

Advantage DC

I refuse to believe that someone had high hopes for a Hugh Jackman movie. It's like hoping that 17 Again is going to be good because it has Zac Efron.
