heh, well in europe it released today, and i haven't checked the leaked version. maybe it wasn't a master piece like batman by your standards. but it was still a decent, enjoyable super heroe's flick.

Only episodes 1-8 have aired in the Us too. While all 23 are there, and have aired in Canada.

I just saw the movie today. I went with low expectations, expecting nothing more than a popcorn action flick with CGI and mutants thrown in, but still figured it could be entertaining so long as I don't think too much about the plot. The action was pretty good overall, but I think the movie still didn't deliver fully. In fact, it felt a bit empty, and flat.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I liked the opening credits. The war scenes were quite artistic, and really showed the evolution of Victor's conscience, from fighting to protect his brother to just slaughtering innocents in Vietnam.

I thought the bone claws looked pretty cheap, but then again they never looked that good in the comics either, and the fact that in the comics the bone claws were almost as durable as adamantium was a bit preposterous. Besides, they aren't in the movie for very long so I'll let it pass.

The adamantium claws look fine for most of the movie except in the scene at the old people's farm, where they definately look EXTREMELY fake in the bathroom scene, and also when he uses them to do a 180° turn on the bike.

Like most people here, I thought the opening sequence with the "Special Commando" attacking the diamond dealers was a bit illogical. The scene was definately an excuse to show off some powers, but the whole Wade Wilson attitude and his abilities made it very tolerable.

Was there ANY point to showing Fred Dukes (Blob) being thin, then later make him morbidly obese? I mean, sure they get to make fat jokes, but that just made the whole character very silly, especially with that computer-generated voice they gave him. I obviously don't expect a character named Blob whose power is to have an indestructible layer of fat to be extremely serious, but still it didn't have to feel like a cartoon either.

Dominic Monaghan's character (Bolt, who controls machines) felt mostly useless, as did Will.I.Am's (John Wraith). Still, I can understand the "need" for some useless mutants just meant to show off cool, popular powers (teleportation especially since X2 with Nightcrawler - so awesome).

Agent Zero was just a bad character from start to finish. Not only did his scenes look fake (wire-jumps are so win), but he mostly did extremely useless things in the movie (except shooting the goons in the opening). The only scene worth watching with him was seeing him get humiliated by Logan in the scene with Stryker at the logging camp.

Gambit was.. okay. I mean, sure he doesn't appear much in the movie, but at least he is -relatively- faithful to the comic books. His name is the same, his powers are the same, he has the stick, the red eyes, the haircut. Can't complain too much compared to other characters.

I thought the whole Weapon X project looked a bit silly in this movie. In the X2 movie, the facility at Alkali Lake looked pretty developped and they had just about a small army there. In this movie here, it looks like they gave half a billion dollars to eight people so they can make Wolverine. You literally see the same people in every scene, and people walk in and out of buildings just like that. Oh and let's not even mention the fact that clawing at keypads automatically opens doors. Thank you video games, I knew Link slashing at rupees to loot them had to teach us a lesson!

Silver Fox was a travesty of what the character is supposed to be (she is supposed to have regeneration thanks to Weapon X Project, instead they gave her mind control) and Emma Frost is now her sister, apparently.

I also won't mention the whole Deadpool blasphemy, everyone here knows about it and it doesn't need anything more added to it. I'm only pissed that the "secret ending" I got to see after the credits was NOT the one that includes Deadpool, it was the one about Logan in Japan. Grr!

Anyways, this brings me to my biggest gripe in the movie : Cyclops' beam.

From everything I've read, Cyclops' eyes are actually portals into another dimension that is made entirely of a kinetic energy that flows out of his eyes uncontrollably. The only way to stop it is to keep his eyes closed, or for him to wear his specially designed glasses that reflect the energy back where it came from, harming no one in the process.

In X1, the fact that his "laser beam" is in fact kinetic energy, and not BURNING FIERY LIGHT, was made pretty clear. When Toad sweeps away Cyclops' visor, you see the train station's roof blow up, not get sliced into pieces.

In X2, you see Cyclops shooting his beam at Lady Deathstryke in the scene where Xavier gets kidnapped, and it clearly pushes her back into a wall, it doesn't burn her or her clothing.

Also in X2, during the fight scene between Jean Grey and Cyclops at the dam, you see her pushing back the kinetic energy with her Phoenix Force shield, and it doesn't burn anything around her, it pushes a military jeep backwards and breaks the dam, but it doesn't slice through concrete.

Fastforward to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in the scene when Cyclops is playing his Bart Simpson scene in the school and Sabertooth chases him, he knocks off his glasses and you CLEARLY see his laser BURNING and slicing through the whole building, and even minutes later when Cyclops has been tranquilized and Strykes comes in, the cuts are still smoldering.

A while later, Deadpool is (inexplicably) given Cyclops' kinetic beam ability (except apparently he can control it from pouring out of his permanently open eyes). When he shoots it at Sabertooth in the chest at nearly point blank range, it bounces him back, clearly not burning into his clothing at all. A moment later, he shoots at Sabertooth again and it BREAKS chunks of concrete, it doesn't slice or burn though it.

And again moments later, when Wolverine decapitates Deadpool and his falling head spins around with the eye beam, it now once again burns and slices cleanly through the whole power plant.

It just doesn't make sense at all. I can accept changing a mutant's powers to make it look cooler or better on screen, but don't change its properties SEVERAL TIMES IN THE SAME FUCKING MOVIE. Did I mention that Wolverine's fucking claws can apparently STOP the kinetic beam by just crossing them in front of his face?

Now that the downsides are mostly out of the way, the upsides.

I thought Hugh Jackman, Liev Shrieber and Ryan Reynolds acted their roles pretty well. Will.I.Am's character also not only looked faithful to the comics, but acted convincingly (even though his death was a bit lame). This movie definately portrayed Victor Creed/Sabertooth far better and more faithfully than X1 ever did.

I've read that Gavin Hood, the director, wants to direct a sequel to this movie that takes place in Japan (as hinted in one of the secret endings) with Logan learning martial arts, and living more adventures. It may make a good movie, but I really would rather see the project about X-Men Origins: Magneto come true first but hopefully with less flashy mutants thrown in just for the hell of it, and a better written plot.

Only one will be shown per viewing. I guess different theaters got different ones, encouraging you to pay for multiple tickets and sit through the abomination in the hopes that one ending doesn't suck.

Wait for the youtube.

Yes, there are two endings.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The one I saw shows Logan having drinks in a bar in Japan. The japanese barmaid asks him where he is from and he answers "Canada.. I think.". Then she asks him if he is drinking to forget about something, and he says he's drinking to remember.

The one I didn't see, but which does exist, shows the very bottom of the power plant reactor. You see Deadpool's arm reaching for his severed head, and at the last second, his eyes open, and with his now open mouth he goes "Shhhh!" at the audience.

I heard the second ending is actually

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
they zoom in on the rubble of the destroyed nuclear plant. We see Deadpools hand out of the rumble and then we see his head on the floor. We then see a guy in a long black over coat with his hood up, kneel down and pick up the head. We then hear dialogue as the camera pans around, " who the hell are you supposed to be?" and as it pans around we see its Wade Wilson. (Ryan Reynolds). then the screen fades to black.

That ending would have been waaay better than the one I read about. As I said, the one I saw was about Logan in Japan, so I had to look up on Google to know the other. I hope the real alternat ending is the one you described, that would give a much brighter future to a Deadpool movie.

That was the ending that was in the workprint too. If Vehn's ending isn't the official ending to the movie for everyone that sees it, then that's pretty much a waste. The bar scene was pointless to begin with, but to not put in something that MIGHT leave an opening for future movies not to suck complete balls is pretty ridiculous.

I don't know what's worse, that they expect us to pay a full ticket price just to see that 30 second clip... or having to listen to that retarded laugh to view the clip on youtube.

God that clip was still 100x better than the one I saw at the Japanese bar, couldn't believe I stayed after for that.

The movie without spoiling anything was a disappointment. I went in for a cheap action film, hoping for some fight scenes, to see some cool mutants and to watch Wolverine yell at people. I got all three but in the weakest way. The fight scenes were so over done with CG as was pretty much every jump in the movie, from off the waterfall, to into the helicopter (zero), etc. When all I'm really hoping for is action and you ruin that by making it look that phony, you have failed.

Even at the end..
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I felt like all the kids were running to Xavier on a green screen. And then trying to make him look young made him look rubber. Also why does Wolverine wake up with no memory and his first instinct is to be super mean to people?

I was also slightly confused with the deadpool thing. I didn't read much of the comics but I sure thought Deadpool told jokes in his costume and whatnot and wasn't some controlled freakazoid. Anyone care to elaborate (I avoided the last 20 pages of the thread before this to avoid spoilers after the leak happened, I'm sure it's there though so I apologize in advance!).

Funniest part was Wolverine at the lumber yard making fun of agent zero. Also I felt like the movie was way more interesting when the team was together, each doing their own thing, even if zero's was pretty cheesy, I liked Reynolds on screen and him having 5 minutes of screen time was a mistake to me. Gambit was Gambit I guess but I felt like he was from South Texas just like Riggins from Friday Night Lights and not New Orleans. Once the actor ages a bit though he should be good for the role.

There were some decent moments and a few laughs, but overall I was disappointed and my expectations weren't that high. Whoever the director was sucks for the amount of CG he decided to use and whoever was in charge of said CG should never get another big budget job again. I felt like the matrix reloaded looked more believable and that movie is way older.
