I never expected someone would push that big of an enveloppe for a movie based on G.I. Joe, but looks like the money was well spent at least. Then again, getting mostly cheap actors was probably a good move to save the money for the 'splozions!
$170 million from what CNN had said. And even with that, you could see a few scenes with lackluster CGI, but I guess when you have THAT many explosions, something has got to get cut. On a random note I LOVED the Doctor's interpretation and voice, and was hoping for a little bit more with Cobra Commander, but whatever.

Not being American I have no preconceptions re the franchise. I think there is like a total of 10 minutes in the whole film without shootings, slashings, bashings, zoomings, stabbings, blastings, jumpings, fallings, crashings. I think my eyes were bleeding a little by the end of it.

As Cyrus said the CGI had to give a little so they could still make this movie with less than a billion dollar budget.

The dialogue is 110% cheese (Dennis Quaid's acting is fuckin' horrific), the plot is nonsensical but at the end of a really long tough week at work on a Friday night I had a lot of fun watching stuff get blown up with the brain on auto-pilot.

It was decent, could have been called 'buncha fights and explosions' and have been just as mindless. I would say I don't know why they're butchering the shit out of all the good 80's franchises, but I do know why, $$$$.

Next up!

Anyone who says this is better than RoF is both blind and deaf. I was satisfied for the money, but this was nothing more than a brain dead action movie. I think of it as a live action 80s cartoon. Bad acting, lots of explosions, and doesnt know when to be serious or funny.

She asked if I was "alright", I had to pull off my best girls voice and tell her that my stomach was upset. I had no idea if she believed I was a girl so I took the fuck off as soon as she cleaned the stall next to me.

If it's like an 80's cartoon as mentioned above, then sounds to me like they got it right.

It would truly be bad ass if they have one of these at the end of the movie though.

Just came back from watching the movie. I went there expecting a bad movie (think Street Fighter without JCVD level of movie) ... and this worked perfectly ! I acctualy enjoyed it. I caught myself smiling quite a few times at some of the easter eggs / references to the 80's GI Joe version.

I stuck around through the credits. I was disappointed. I was expecting a Public Service Announcement like the old cartoon used to have Heartbroken.

It would have been very redeeming. Fuck, do it during the credits. I share this disappointment.

I mean, I loved the movie. I just put on my "I'm 10 years old again" hat and had a fucking blast.

But man, if they had included the PSA at the end... gold.

As long as you aren't expecting much, its a pretty fun movie imo. Nothing but nonstop action scenes/explosions/gun fights/etc, but given that... it was an enjoyable ride imo. I didn't notice the CGI issues but I tend to kick back and relax and not focus on things when watching movies like this. I don't know that I'd watch it again, but I'd certainly watch the sequel.
