Yeah I really don't understand that. Maybe it's rap I don't understand. The way I see it is, generally everyone will like the best of anything, even if they don't like that thing. An example would be...a homosexual man being attracted to a really hot woman, simply because she's...you know...really really hot. The homosexual may still be homosexual, but the woman is really hot. It's like rap...I hate rap, but Eminem is a really really good rapper, and I like his music, but I hate rap. So I like the best of rap, but not all rap. So I don't understand how you could like rap, but not like Eminem? PLEASE FUCKING EDUCATE ME!!!

Uh, what? Is he attracted to her or does he acknowledge her being attracive without being attracted to her himself? I know Eminem is popular because he gets radio airtime, but I think he sucks because i'm not an Eminem fan... Does that clear it up?

I liked Greenday and Offspring when they were popular.. and I listen to local top 40 Radio Stations..but I will more than likely change the station when Eminem comes on. What are you saying? That I have to like either ALL "top 40" (not best, just best selling) artists or NONE? That doesn't even make any sense.

BTW, what do you mean Eminem is the "best" of rap? Maybe he sells more albums than other rappers, but you'd be hard pressed to prove he is the "best".

Artists on mainstream radio stations get airtime because they have a marketable product, not because it is good. The stations etc market the product and it becomes popular. So you're wrong.

while I agree 'best' is an opinion based adjective. I can state that he is a very talented since he holds a record for either 2nd or maybe 3rd longest freestyle rap. Last I heard he was 2nd, but that was awhile ago, so others may have beat him. The person who was in 1st? Snoop dogg.
My theory on that is that snoop dogg has a slower style of rap, which makes it easier to go for a longer period of time. But that's another debate entirely.

My point? That while I can't really argue with you whether or not eminem is 'good'. I can say by the standards of rap, he is very talented. He is creative and quick thinking.

But back to the original poster's question. I remember hearing an interview with the director who was very surprised at his ability. He said at first he was really rough, and he thought he would put up a crappy performance. Then eminem surprised him by really taking it seriously. He studied and practiced quite a bit. Now, he's proud of his performance and feels he has quite a bit of acting talent.

I'm actually looking forward to this movie. I saw the trailer for it and was like 'yea.. that looks good'. If your a eminem hater, you really should try to look past that and try to enjoy the movie for what it is. It's only loosely based on his life for one. Originally, it was going to be completely based on his life. But they ended up changing it around.
Instead of looking at it as 'the eminem story'. Think of it as a poor white boy living in the ghetto who gets a chance to make something out of himself. To better his and his daughter's lives.

Technically it's not though. That was my point earlier. They have changed the story so that it resembles some aspects of his life, but it's not factual at all.
But, even so, that still doesnt mean his musical talent should play into the quality of the movie.
A movie about hitler and the nazis doesn't automatically suck as a movie just because hitler sucked as a person.
