+3 Internets | It would be a nice thing to shove in the face of the religious whackos trying to claim Einstein shared any of their beliefs.

| I always find that line of reasoning hilarious when talking to someone religious. Like if your talking about evolution they say "DARWIN HIMSELF DIDNT EVEN BELIEVE HIS OWN WORK!" or "EINSTEIN BELIEVED IN GOD AND HES THE SMARTEST HUMAN EVER!. |

| I'm not talking about every day practice and Bhagavan, but the concept of Brahman. But you're right, Hinduism in practices attributes all sorts of human characteristics (depending on the creed). Brahman is the abstract ultimate deity which I was thinking of and referring. edit; and yes, Christians like to include in their "club" all the famous, brilliant people who mention "God". Einstein was somewhat of a Deist, but because he sometimes refers to capital G god it automatically makes him a Christian. Last edited by Schatze : 05-14-2008 at 04:29 PM. |

| Here's a fascinating video about the bonobo. It's pretty long, and if you feel yourself getting bored and about to quit watching, do yourself a favor and fast forward to the end and bask in amazment at a fucking bonobo playing Pac Man. And not just randomly jerking the joystick around, actually playing Pac Man for real. TED | Talks | Susan Savage-Rumbaugh: Apes that write, start fires and play Pac-Man (video) |

| TED | Talks | Paul Ewald: Can we domesticate germs? (video) Another interesting talk about germs. What's interesting about this talk is how much mileage you get out of the idea of natural selection, and how testable it is in many cases. The Creationists have nothing that compares to this. Any problem at all, they point at and say "Jesus did it," and that's it. What a fucking scientifically worthless theory. I feel sorry for anyone who cannot see the richness that natural selection provides. |

| Hmm. Not a lot of activity on this thread recently. Possibly coinciding with the latest global warming debate on a different board. It's kind of funny how the same battle lines are reliably drawn on each type of controversial thread every time it pops up. |
