Converting a DVD to a Divx file help

Hello,

I've tried searching Google but all I seem to find are very malware-like and shadey apps for doing this. Could anyone post a link to a guide that explains how to do this using legitimate (read: not adware) software?

I'd really like to be able to stream my movie collection to my xbox from my Windows Home Server and have no idea how to go about getting DVDs onto my PC "the right way".

was also wondering this as well the other day when I couldnt find torrents for some old movies i'd like to preserve.

Also another curious question, is there a device that would allow wireless transmission between a pc and xbox, or pc/tv for audio/video?
