| Elizabeth: The Golden Age Didn't see a thread on this. Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) Came out today; going to see it with my girlfriend tonight. She's crazy excited and I like the time period, plus I heard the first one is good. |

| Read the actual reviews, it's pretty funny.... The published reviewers and the bigger bloggers all hate the movie for its aggrandizement of the Anglo-Saxon worldview. One of them even shits on how the movie portrayed Elizabethan England as this island of protestantism besieged by vicious continental foes---which is EXACTLY what it was. So instead of seeing a beautifully-conceived and meticulously executed film, they saw another right-wing attempt to erode what little gains their hamfisted attempts at curtailing the Anglo-Saxon hegemony's adventurism have made. Stay tuned for France and Spain going to the UN and demanding a formal apology from the filmmakers, ala 300. |
