Elizabeth: The Golden Age

Didn't see a thread on this.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007)

Came out today; going to see it with my girlfriend tonight. She's crazy excited and I like the time period, plus I heard the first one is good.

The first Elizabeth was badass. Walsingham is a complete pimp.

I saw this the other night. EVERYTHING was so dramatized. It wasn't bad just so hardcore...oh and
.
Did they try to make it look like Sir Walter Raleigh took out the spanish armada single handedly on purpose. I lol'ed a bit with that.
.

I refuse to take seriously the opinion of any website that gives The Simpsons Movie 88%.

RT has some of the most fucked up bizarre ratings for some movies, it's not worth paying much attention to imo.

Read the actual reviews, it's pretty funny....

The published reviewers and the bigger bloggers all hate the movie for its aggrandizement of the Anglo-Saxon worldview. One of them even shits on how the movie portrayed Elizabethan England as this island of protestantism besieged by vicious continental foes---which is EXACTLY what it was. So instead of seeing a beautifully-conceived and meticulously executed film, they saw another right-wing attempt to erode what little gains their hamfisted attempts at curtailing the Anglo-Saxon hegemony's adventurism have made.

Stay tuned for France and Spain going to the UN and demanding a formal apology from the filmmakers, ala 300.

The previews for this piss me off. I can't explain it, but I just want to punch Elizabeth in the fucking mouth. Strangely, I'm usually into historical dramas, but they make her seem waaaay too hardcore.
