I've really nothing to add, other than the movie has confirmed a couple of my thoughts about Iran.

However, one of the best parts of the movie is the live beheading of a lamb, with a knife. It was fucking awesome.

Nothing else to add, at the moment.

This movie as an interesting subject, but tries to be something it is not. It follows a small group of very religious people but tries with them to draw the portrait of a whole nation. A very interesting nuance is brought in the mix toward the end (about the logical part and emotional part of ideology) but it is not developed.

That said, it's pretty intersting to discover a tale that is a very strong component of the iranian cultural identity, even if some other religious components (notably related with zoroastrianism) and secular components exist.

As I did in another thread, I strongly recommend some of the very good iranian movies we got to see in the last few years: Offside and Crimson Gold (Panahi), Salaam Cinema (Makhmalbaf), A Taste of Cherry and Ten (Kiarostami) come to mind.

Ha, that's awesome. I didn't watch the movie, but I followed Dak's advice and am pleasantly surprising things I never wanted to pleasantly surprise when they were out.
