Mechwarrior-Movie, really ?

On a couple of forums I ve seen this MechwarriorMovie.com: Sign the Petition to Get The Mechwarrior Film Into Theaters! link, it has a petition form where you can give away your details, claims if it will reach 100000 (along with a 10 minute demo) it will impress a studio boss into giving green light.

While I would love a Battletech movie, especially since the transformers one. This whole approach seems obscure and reminds me of the canned Shadowrun MMO project.

the potential ammount of pure destruction in a mechwarrior movie is too great to be contemplated

too bad the movie will be pure shit. i have lost any faith in the hollywood's ability to create something better than a stinky pile of poop

I can't think of one giant robot sci-fi movie that was actually done right.

This is doomed to fail if it needs a petition to get the green light. A film usually succeeds if there is a director who has the passion, desire and a dream to create a certain film and if that was the case then the director would fight to get this made into a film and there would be no need foe the petition.

The Battletech cartoon that was on years ago wasn't bad. I remember liking it when I was younger, but I haven't seen it in years. They did a good job with it though, like when the clan chick upgraded his tech and it switched to that cheesy 3-d, it was awesome.

Well if you watch the first 20 mins of transformers shows what a good Mechwarrior movie could look like. Wouldnt be hard to build some good looking cockpits to put actors in. Maybe base it on the battle of Tukkayid where the clans lost their first battle to the inner sphere.

Online petitions are beyond useless. Michael J Fox has a better chance of walking a tightrope than an online petition has of being anything but a complete waste of time.
