| Dark is Rising. Oct 2007 Since I brought this up on the HDM thread. The Dark is Rising based on the Susan Cooper book (and second of the five books in The Dark is Rising series) is coming out Oct 7, 2007. Here's the one-sheet: This was one of my favorite series as a kid (up there with Narnia and Tolkien) and i'm guardedly looking forward to the film. Depends heavily on the kid playing Will Stanton.

Series had five books: Over Sea, Under Stone (first book and a little young compared to the rest of the series. Were I a billionaire and making the series I'd have done the same thing and started with TDiR) The Dark is Rising Greenwitch (possibly my favorite) The Grey King Silver on the Tree Don't want to spoil the series but they're good enough that if you're an adult and you like fantasy you'll still enjoy them. Spoilers are here: The Dark is Rising Sequence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

| Silver was a great book and sad for reasons I won't spoil but the Grey King made me cry whenever I read it when I was a kid (and I still get a little choked up when I last re-read it last year)also for reasons I won't spoil here.

I'm sure they'll just dress fucking Dakota Fanning up as a boy and have her do it. I hate that kid more than fat kids hate diets.

| omg. Yes. Peter Jackson better be the director. I gotta go change my pants now, and that's before watching the clip. EDIT - I'm not 100% sold on the "modern" setting for it, after watching that. I'm not sure why, but it seems slightly disenfranchisizing (is that a word?) to me. Also, Over Sea Under Stone was book 2. Last edited by Nehrak : 07-19-2007 at 03:50 PM. |

| That trailer looked cool for kids. 7-8 year olds.
