+18 Internets | Helps they used Sigur Ros in the trailer. It's funny how a properly placed song can make a trailer look 100x better than it actually looks. However I watched this trailer yesterday and thought the concept was pretty cool for sure. Except the lady being black. kidding. |

+18 Internets | Yep. That Fantastic Four trailer even looked pretty good when they played that APC song. And I don't know if anyone has seen the trailer for the science of sleep, but it has several good songs in there which probably makes the movie look better than it actually looks. |

| Judging from the trailer alone, this movie could be good. Or it could be complete shit. Two alternatives I could see: * The new Eve is black because of political correctness. In this case the movie will be shit, because it'll be about how a man and woman, with seemingly no race consciousness of any sort, play heroes to the platonic rebirth of the human race. In other words, generic idealistic narrative of "intrinsic" human heroism with archetypal do-gooders situated smack in the middle of moral universalism and color blindness - not the sort of stuff that requires any degree of thought. * The new Eve is black because she's black, and you just gotta deal with it. In this case, I can see a narrative of divided loyalties, of racial irony, wherein the white man must come face to face with the reversal of his manifest destiny - that he, instead of inheriting the world, must sacrifice himself to allow a people he once denigrated take his place. The main character will be tormented, because every man is a racist at heart and will wonder whether he should ushur forth a new black millenium or nip it in the bud because "if I can't have it, neither can you." Only at the end, amidst much internal turmoil, would he make a decision to stand with or against the new Edenic myth, to perhaps accept the idea of an universal humanity and the need to transcend racial realities, or to deny it and kill the infant in a bout of xenophobia. While not the greatest movie of all time, such a movie would at least raise a few eyebrows, and that's better than sitting through the two hour rendition of an utopian fantasy. +16 Internets | Raise dead thread! Raise! I just saw this movie today and it was, as a whole, very good. There are some minor problems that I can elaborate if we start to discuss about the movie, but for now I'll just say it has an instant classic feel to it. Solid story, good acting and let's say.... insane film making from hell. Not very theoric, but insane and certainly from hell (maybe digital hell, I don't know, but hell for sure). End of DECEMBER in the US.

+1 Internets | I wonder why this film is coming out so late in the U.S. It comes out tomorrow (November, 18th) in Japan and I plan on seeing it around then. It definitely looks like it will be a good movie. |
