I saw this last night, I think the movie starts well but then just meanders to the end. There are no surprises as the plot/story line is very bland, and therefore not that engaging.

To me it was just Apocolypto but with much better CGI.

There are quite a few prophecies in this movie, and smart animals !

For me they needed to go full on stone age with the characters trying to survive against giant beasts of all types. Or the other extreme a Conan type world.

In the end they ended up in the middle of the road, which is basically what the movie turned out to be.

I thought it was great. You can't always be "looking" for surprises. Movies aren't video games, they aren't always supposed to be that interactive. Sometimes a great movie is one that you can just soak in and let the story seep into you. One factor of the ending was lame, however.

Thats true (I totally agree with the soak in comment), and really what I was trying to say was I think 10,000 bc was a very "safe" movie thats all. I don't expect a movie to be interactive or have a zillion twists and turns in order to make it a great or even good movie.

The movie borrowed concepts such as a tale set in a Conan type world, with fantastical monsters and magic or a tale of early man as they battle the elements and creatures of the time, and they needed to merge the two elements better.

All in all it was a movie by numbers for me.

I am no historian... but isn't 10,000 B.C. about 3000 years before 7,000 B.C.? So wouldn't that mean that the terrorbirds weren't extinct yet?

....I know we are scientifically nitpicking a fucking movie here and all, but what species of Terror Bird was still alive at 7k BC? And on what continent did this movie take place? The latest dated (or however that is supposed to be said) fossil was for Titanis walleri around 1.8 Million years ago. While relatively not that long ago, its obviously way the fuck before 10k BC. Also Terror Birds only lived in South America, with a few species migrated to southern North america (Florida/Texas), which means they would encounter Mastodons not Mammoths.... oh fuck I'm trying to analyze a goddamn action movie, Cthulu have mercy on my soul....

i think the guy got a little confused. i will watch this movie off the net but to be honest i thought it bit fucking dumb the trailer had dudes in dreadlocks running around. i thought that was a bit of a modern touch for 12,000 years ago.

I watched the "Making of 10,000 B.C." last night and they were talking about the Lost Valley?? I think they said where the Terrorbirds attacked. According to the guy talking said they they were extinct 3000 years before the "movie takes place" in. They had the birds in it, cuz it was a Lost Valley and the "last pack of terrorbirds" lived there. I coulda swore he said 7,000 B.C. though.
