| thats brilliant, way to go And you might have an argument if this was some no name director looking at his big break, and the only thing coming out of his mouth would be 'Yes sir Mr Lucas sir...aliens be a flyin' But this was steven spielburgs movie. Hes been friends with George for about 30+ years now and pretty sure hes in spielburgs cell phone. I'm sure he could step in and say, "Look, this story isnt as good as it could be." They sat down and had meetings about this script. This wasnt some big surprise where they turned to the next page after a day of shooting. Maybe the vision didn't translate well. However, what I know is the story was shit. It was painful to watch and hear the actors spit out the dialog.

| Indiana Jones and the Social Security Check or whatever its called should have ended the franchise at 3 movies. this was a rehash of the other movies best scenes and it just looked tired. I went in with very low expecations and i wasnt disappointed. |

| The girlfriend and I finally got around to seeing this today. Wasn't a bad popcorn flick until the last 15-20 minutes. I mean, we've seen this ending already in The Mummy 2. I don't understand the hate for the alien angle. Was it handled poorly? Sure. But let's not forget the plots of the other movies. A magical rock that provides... what? Rain and food aplenty? The Ark of the Covenant, the Holy Grail? Are we all of a sudden going to laugh because we're seeing aliens hooking up with humans thousands of years ago? Guess I don't get the hate on that. I do hate the camera filters used for the movie. I hate Indy's son. I hate the ant scene that feels a bit of a rip off from The Scorpion King. National Treasure 2 was better. |

| been thinking about it and realized why i disliked this movie so much. it contradicts the other 3 movies. Raiders of the lost Ark= ark of the covenant, has tablets remains touched by GOD, has extreme supernatural powers Temple of Doom- Indy recovers stones blessed by GOD (sheba shiva?) they also have supernatural powers Last Crusade- Indy finds the Holy Grail which belonged to the Son of GOD and has supernatural powers to make you immortal Crystal Skull- indy must return a magical skull and finds immortal supernatural Roswell space aliens who have been around for 10s of thousands of years studying man and being worshipped as a god. so was the 4th movie proof that there really was no god in any of the previous movies? just alien gadgets? was Jesus an astronaut as was Sheba? was Indy the entire series actually an early version of xfiles? |

And honestly, I don't blame this movie for sucking. The franchise is dry, and I could see this movie sucking just as bad if it was about Noah's Ark or some other biblical/religious reference. The people behind it obviously lost touch with what the original movies where about. And really the story wasnt awfull. The movie to me just didnt have that flow that good movies had. It was just a bunch of semi-randomass scenes thrown together with pretty colors. Big meh. | |

| I think the difference between this movie and the previous ones is that the concept did not fit as well into our accepted culture references as the others did. The biblical archaelogical references are a fairly solid base for a story line. (movies 1 & 3). They are also the two which did the best. The second movie was a bit lacking in the story department and you will notice did not do as well as 1 and 3. Aliens just kinda put the movie a bit too far out in left field for the average movie goer. Take as a contrast: Both National Treasure movies. IMHO both are just great movies. They take our history and twist it in order to make a semi plausable background for a story. This makes the movie watcher think in the back of their minds "ya know.. its not true, but there is that little bit of something that makes you think it almost could have been". That is what the Indiana Jones movies all should have been done like. (imho) |
