Recommend me some good indie movies Just what the title says, and none of that tin foil hat Loose Change bullshit. I want to be entertained.

lol Edit: just because I want to be entertained doesn't mean it needs to have a big budget. There have to be some well written dramas or comedies out there that I don't already know about.

+20 Internets | Just going to mention some I've seen the last year since you've probably seen most of the really popular ones. Some of these might be major-ish studios but at least limited release/sundance type things Lonesome Jim Half Nelson Brick Amores Perros

'Funny ha ha' saw this movie a couple years ago, was made in 03. It's about life after college for the average american 20 something who doesn't really know what to do with themselves. Here's a random trailer from youtube: 'Beijing Bicycle' THis is another one i caught on either sundance or IFC a few years back. I usually can't stand asian films, but this one really caught my attention. It shows how valuable the bicycle is in a place like beijing, and the struggles of having it as your only means of transportation. Theres also some deep symbolism about Chinese culture/society and the flaws that go along with it, etc. Here's the only trailer i could find for this one

A very long Engagement (same dude who made Amelie) The man who fell to Earth (David Bowie) Caligula (not really "indie", but I don't think a whole lot of people have actually seen in) Un chien andalou (although, it's only like 20 minutes) Ken Park/Gummo (not Kids) Short Bus (if you don't mind some...a lot of gay content) Hedwig and the Angry Inch

I'll second Ham's recommendation of Half Nelson, I didn't really like Brick that much though, but it seems like damn near everyone else except me + the person I saw it with did. I don't really keep track of what I see that's indie and what's not, but I'll start thinking about it and get back to it later today/tomorrow. There's a ton of shit I'll read about and then not be able to see at all because it's small enough to not get shown in Louisville and also small enough to not get on torrents. So if there's anyone who knows of a indie/limited release movie torrent site and wants to share their knowledge it'd be more than welcome.

Gummo seems pretty interesting, but only in that I'm a fan of Larry Clark's photography and it's a movie by the guy who also did the screenwriting for one of Clark's movies (Kids). Actually after looking more in depth I think I'll look into it but stick with Streetwise. If you can find it, I'm pretty sure the movie is only available on VHS but it's damn worth it.
