| Beowulf (2007) Did a search for a thread, didn't find one. Where do I start? Anthony Hopkins, Crispin Glover (as Grendel teehee), Angelina Joelie (Grendel's mother), John Malkovich, along with a slew of other, lesser known, but good actors. Screenplay co-written by Neil Gaiman. Robert Zemeckis directing. From what little the trailer shows, it doesn't really follow the poem at all. It sort of looks like Grendel is Beowulf's kid in the movie. That's a big what the christ thing that'll take some re-arranging of the story, but it could work (maybe not, the brief synopsis on the trailer lines up with the powem.. I doubt there're as many rabid Beowulf fans as there are rabid LOTR fans, although JRR may be tossing in his grave (he studied the poem extensively). The effects in the trailer are a mixed bag, but I'm chalking that up to production. However, the dancing flame in the shape of a naked women really caught my attention, don't know why. Some of the techniques used in filming are identical to 300. Which I think is a good thing. Another similarity is that the movie is full of ass kicking manliness. However, unlike 300, I sincerely doubt that's all there is to the film. If you're doing an adaptation of motherfucking Beowulf, and you manage to get people like Anthony Hopkins on board, it's probably a good one. I'm looking forward to it. Even if it is just rah rah viking kick ass flick, it'll still be entertaining. On a side note, the film was specifically shot so that it would transfer exceptionally well to 3d Imax. Which could be very cool. Get the international red bar trailer if you want to see Angelina Joelie's tits and ass briefly, but otherwise the trailers are relatively the same (although they may have excluded the dragon in the red bar).
