| Eastern Promises Viggo Mortenson and Naomi Watts: Trailer - Yahoo Movies "The mysterious and ruthless Nikolai is tied to one of London's most notorious organized crime families. His carefully maintained existence is jarred when he crosses paths with Anna, an innocent midwife trying to right a wrong, who accidentally uncovers potential evidence against the family. Now Nikolai must put into motion a harrowing chain of murder, deceit, and retribution." I lol'd at the "In russian prisons" comment in the trailer, just from all the jokes |

| Meh, we'll see. The assassin with the heart of gold, the innocent women who somehow manages to survive against the freakin russian mafia? I hope they figure out a way to explain how she isn't dead 15 seconds after revealing she has a diary from the dead girl. |

+8 Internets | I liked A History of Violence so hopefully this will be similar. If you like Cronenberg's work, check out eXistenZ (1999). It's no Matrix but I enjoyed it. |

| Early reviews are giving it 4 stars and pretty much every critic is predicting a Mortensen oscar nod. Really looking forward to this, i have high hopes since i kinda have a man crush on Mortensen since LOTR hehe, bumping for discussions sake since its hitting theaters this week.

| So it's doing really well in reviews and I was worried that it wasn't coming to Louisville at all as rottentomatoes showed limited release, yahoo said wide release, and the Eastern Promises site said jack shit. But wikipedia says that the limited release was yesterday and wide release is next weekend. I'm all excited. |

| History of Violence was good and while the sex scenes were somewhat intense, they felt out of place and brought the movie down for me. This however, looks awesome. Russian mafia inner workings are something I've always wondered about. That being said, is it just me or is there a sound effect at the end of that trailer from Starcraft? |

| Okay I ducked out of work early and saw this movie. I thought the movie could have been EPIC like the Godfather but it was just very good (I will explain in spoilers how I think it could have been an EPIC movie). It had some very good/violent scenes and Viggo's role was very good- he steals all the scenes that he is in and if you didn't know who he was you would swear that he is Russian. Seriously, his Russian accent and look in this movie are amazing. Also there is a fight scene in this movie that is just incredible. I will not go into details to spoil it for anyone just saying that it is badass. I haven't seen a fight scene that good in awhile, some of you complain that the fight scenes in Bourne movies are too shakey and now I see what you are saying because this fight scene was done to perfection. I would give this movie a 9.2/10 but it easily could have been a 10/10 with a few tweaks. Do not read if you have not seen this movie: Spoiler Alert, click show to read: Last edited by Burkex : 09-21-2007 at 03:03 PM. |
