starting with Field of Dreams as shoeless joe jackson to Goodfellas, to John Q. He just rode their coattails.

Controversial an opinion though it may be, I agree somewhat. I thought Goodfellas was a highly overrated film (inc. flames, I'm sure), and I thought Ray Liotta was the weakest part of Goodfellas. There were some great performances in that movie, to be sure, but Liotta's wasn't one of them. He comes across as very stiff, unnatural, and occasionally annoying.

In fairness to Ray, I think he's done some amazing work in his career. Ironically, I think his best acting job was as a guest star in an ER episode about 2 or 3 years ago. But he's done some good work and some bad work, just like most actors in his class.
