| Death Sentence I saw this trailer the other day. From the director of Saw, stars Kevin Bacon, it actually looks kinds badass like a cross between Man on Fire and Taxi Driver. BTW how many trailers use that 28 days later soundtrack? Seems like a lot lately.

| I'd say it has most in common with the old Death Wish movies with Charles Bronson, but yea it looks really good. Sucks that it's coming out the same day as Halloween. Personally I'll go see this first, but I expect Michael Myers will be stomping Kevin Bacon when Monday's numbers come out. |

| Not sure why Halloween came out now, maybe they didnt want to compete with that Trick r Treat film which will be out in October . |

+1 Internets | I thought the Saw movies were torture porn shit, but this actually looked kind of good. Kevin Bacon has some great expressiveness in the trailer as he reacts especially on the phone in his office, but it sounds like this is a rental at best. |

| Caught this flick during the afternoon, despite the lopsided numbers on RT. This movie is borderline but not over the edge, as they tried blending emotional drama with R-rated action thrills. Kevin Bacon was an excellent choice for the action portion of the film, however the drama part ended up mediocre and the transitions back and forth didn't connect as well as they should. Action-wise, they delivered. Think Die Hard style violence (R-rated version) plus the camera work we wished Bourne had. The downside? Not enough of it. The scenes they had left you wanting more, so much that I would rather they just named this movie "War" instead of Jet Li's, shoved the drama into the first half hour, and had 90 full minutes of Kevin Bacon vs the goons. But what really hurt this movie most was the afflictional plague that they considered a musical score. The choice of music combined with very poor syncing fubared the flow in a bunch of scenes. If they had left it all natural realistic sound or just ripped off from some other action movies they could have done a lot better. On a final note, I will say that John Goodman's short role in this was perfectly fucked up Goodness. Last edited by Malakriss : 08-31-2007 at 01:17 PM. |
