Dark Tower movie has been confirmed

The Dark Tower series of books are being made into a movie:

Stephen King confirms The Dark Tower Movie | /Film

How the hell they are going to fit 7 books into one movie is beyond me.

Very poorly, I'd assume.

Oooooh. So that's why nearly every single Stephen King movie sucks extreme amounts of shit. (note: generally at the very end everything that was bad ass in the movie falls apart into a fucking shit heap.)

Well it's a good thing J.J. Abrams is directing, I believe he's an expert at exactly that.

I couldn't disagree more. There are lots of movies based on King's books that are the epitomy of awesomeness:

Carrie
The Shining
Christine
Stand By Me
Pet Cemetery
Misery
The Shawshank Redemption
Dolores Claiborne
The Green Mile
Hearts In Atlantis

...to name just a few.

Basically it's up to the actual filmmakers to make it good, he wrote the book and that's the extent of his involvement generally.

Dark Tower is his baby though. He was inolved in the comics they just did some and they turned out pretty badass, hopefully the movie has a similar vibe.

Dang, got my hopes up. I thought it was going to be a movie about The Dark Tower (game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are too many things in the books that would be hard to portray well on film.

Roland, for one. Who would they cast? Maybe if they put some makeup on a stringy Christian Bale to make him look weathered and older, maybe.

One good thing about not doing this as a mini-series though, is of course a larger budget to get the landscapes and visuals right. Also, I seriously doubt they're going to try to encompass the entire story in one movie. Doesn't make sense at all.

I could see Ryan Reynolds as Eddie. Gunslinger is quite obviously Clint Eastwood 30 years ago, but I'm not sure how they're going to make that happen.

Totally need to invent time travel so Clint can play it. And toss in Stallone and Arnie to go back and make a Contra movie in their prime as well.

God himself couldn't make this movie good. Not even He could cram 7 books worth into 2 or 3 hours worth of movie and have it come out good.

Why is it people are assuming it would be all 7 books in one movie?

Even if you made it a 40 hour movie, it would watch something like 'from dusk to dawn' as the brain eater attacked King partway through the series and the more recent books in no way resemble the earlier ones.
