I'm pretty impatient, so I usually just stream movies:
QuickSilverScreen - Watch Movies Online Free

BUT I would love a Demonoid invite if anyone has one.

Edit:
Thanks TheOkapi!

I have gone past torrents and just started using Newsgroups now. I am downloading at like 900kb/s. Its about four or five times the speed I was getting on torrents.

Newsgroups are nice. I can get a movie-sized file in 20 minutes now.

Newsgroups own but I don't use them enough to warrant the monthly fee. Plus with large files you wind up downloading an extra GB or so of PAR repair files so 25GB can go quick.

My ISP gives me 2GB a month of newsgroups which gets me 2-3 DVD rips.

And my demonoids are gone, sorry.

If you want a good torrent tracker, try MovieX - Combining The Bittorrent Network

You have to keep a ratio though, so speeds are good. You just can't be a leech with it like you can demonoid.

MovieX are evil though. They do that dodgy trick of adding their tracker to other sites torrents, combined with their server setup to not share outside their members. End result is that if you grab a torrent from another source, moviex will be leaching your bandwidth to its own members without giving you anything in return.

I use Newsbin. It puts all the par2s other than the main .par2 file from the .nzb files into a "scratch" area so they are not automatically downloaded and then after it has finished the download I run par2 and select the number of extra pars i might need.

Downloading from Giganews though i rarely need any par2s unless the upload has been fucked completely. They have just announced retention is going up to 240 days in the binary groups. It's very rare something I want isnt posted, and if it isnt, well one of the other 8 zillion films, tv shows, games or whatever will probably fill the gap until it is.

hdbits.org for movies. Everyone seeds so your downloads are typically around 1mb, and the selection is great. However, I don't think you are going to find anything really far out of the mainstream there. I would imagine the bulk of hi-def movies are on there. I should probably add that it is invite only and capped at 20K users.
