| Freedom to Facism I didn't see a thread on this. This thread is about Aaron Russo's film, Freedom to Facism, which can be viewed here (unsure how to embed). Just wanted to know if anyone watched it / debunked it / any thoughts? I am so frustrated with watching documentaries these days because of their deceitful nature that I can't believe anything. I am only about 20 minutes through the film, but so far he hasn't mentioned the 16th? Anyway, thoughts? Last edited by Ninajrr; 07-21-2007 at 02:58 PM.. |

| Saw it all. I must say I find this more believable than the popular "Bush ordered planes into the towers!" (Bush taking advantage of the tragedy is another matter though. But I digress) The movie touches on several topics that should be taken very seriously and not treated as conspiratorial nonsense. I.e. RFID chips implanted under the skin, national ID, electronic voting systems. I'd tell you what documentaries I would love to see though. I'd like to see parties arguing both sides of an argument given equal opportunity to respond, time to prepare, etc. face off in a series of debates, with long periods of time between for fact checking and verification. I'd also like to see more debunking of conspiracies, so people can focus on the real issues. Filmmakers with their questions prepared, putting their cameras in somebody's face during their lunch break is hardly fair. Not to mention their responses could be edited to make them appear to be saying something unintended. And of course, they usually have zero to gain from submitting to an interview. So it's little wonder people aren't jumping at the chance unless they have an agenda. I'm not suggesting this particular film was all bunk. Obviously I didn't check his facts, and I certainly didn't hear the bankers' point of view. (again, they have little motive to start a PR campaign, even if they aren't evil) For all I know, bankers are screwing over everybody. But I certainly won't commit to a belief after only hearing one side. I am a bit curious as to why our cost of living is increasing, though. As technology advances, it should be decreasing. But now both mommy and daddy have to work, while the rich get richer. New world orders are a whole other matter though. |

+58 Internets | The movie was interesting, I watched it back when it was on limited release through one of those torrent leaks. It made me feel I could get away with never paying my taxes again. They have former IRS employees on film here saying they haven't paid taxes in a decade and somehow I think they won't be audited even still. One thing I didn't like about the film was the narrator, when he tried to spin something his way it was a little obvious to me. |

| Original Intent Dave Champion is the guy who help consult to make this movie (above is his website) about certain portions of the tax laws we have here in the states. He makes it very clear on how and why you can't just suddenly stop paying taxes, but through the right steps, can get into the right direction. The tax laws here in the states are so horribly done, so confusing, that even if there was a law making direct taxes on labor legal, we'd never find it. Its really, really, a long drawn out process in order to get out of the loop.

| Real Life Apologist | It's very libertarian... not sure I'd call it hard core. I saw it about 6 months back, was a pretty good one to watch. Doesn't go off the deep end like Loose Change, it's very grounded in reality. I'm not sure I agree with the whole "taxation is a conspiracy" concept, but I believe it should be greatly lessened through the current system rather than abolished. |
