ah the broken movie, lost to the public for years....hmm wonder why, OH YEAH! thats right Trent Reznor decided releasing it wasnt a good idea. Reason being its fuckin crazy and wasnt exactly what he was trying to do and make. Also censors denied it when the demand came so some bootlegs came out and some off of them etc now u can find it anywhere at a expo or something of the sort. Thinkin back to the original post saying you will never associate yourself with NIN now is perhaps one of the funniest things i ever heard to think someone took this that seriously perhaps you shouldnt watch Apocolypse Now or A Clockwork Orange maybe to horendous since well there is murder. oh but whats that you say? they are only movies. omg your kidding! well then whats "the Broken movie" a painting? no a movie of a persons own creation that was not ever released cause they themselves chose not to cause of its extreme nature (which is no where near what this thread claims it is) ever see Hellraiser? well thats alot worse. Ofcourse u did fail to actually LISTEN to what the songs are about/saying the Movie imo was a great adaption of it and video. I'm not a diehard Trent fan, but NIN is the only band I can think of that has never put out a bad song, much less a bad album (not including the remakes he does to help pay the bills )

There isn't a single Nine Inch Nails song that I wouldn't mind hearing over and over again.

Let's be clear. Reznor immitating a murder is not a film like a hollywood movie. He isn't telling a story. He isn't trying to give a message. He is acting out a murder and trying to convince people that it's real. And it's a ploy to sell records. If you think he didn't know about the leak I say YEA RIGHT. This guy doesn't let anything happen in his career that he doesn't control. Nice marketing scam Trent. I actually like a lot of NIN's music. What I have an issue with is people saying a bootlegged copy of people trying to act out a murder is A OK. It's IS sick and twisted and if you think that doesn't desensitize people to the real thing I say you're wrong. It isn't like a war movie. tehy are not demonstrating the horrors of war, they are giving an illusion of a real murder. There is a difference. So if you want to 'embrace the moment given to you' and understand if what you say is true, then they would show that fkae snuff film and not BAN it. That's something I've noticed about metalheads (by which I mean the modern metalhead, ie european black/death metal). They always insist that everything that isn't Slayer isnt hardcore enough to even be worth their time. They're aggressively opinionated, to the point of being annoying, on any music that they don't like.

Well guess what? Being hardcore anything is pretty funny to the rest of us. Its silly. Hell it even *sounds* silly as a slang term. You do what you want Act, but you acting all supreme because your little guitarists know how to sing about hating religion is just as amusing as some ubergoth preaching the glories of a no name goth band out of his neighbor's garage. About the only difference between a hardcore metal concert and a hardcore goth show is that at one they hit each other, and at the other they fall asleep.

You're alot more like who you are claiming to hate than you think. Don't believe me? Next concert you go to, check out the crowd, then go the next weekend to the see whatever goth band is playing, probably in the same club. Lots of familiar faces.

Broken was nothing more than a sell out for the Cold Wave Industrial (Industrial with guitars) that got big right around then. People bought into it. The movie(s) (There were about 8 or 9)you speak of were played in all the clubs, some concerts, and some clips were even shown on public tv stations, and no doubt you can buy all of them by now. And no, im not talking about the long film he played during his normal tours..That was entirely different. Trent was never a deep and sensitive guy. If that's what you thought about him, then you were still listening to some other genre of music while the Industrial scene trying to revitalize itself when his mishmash flooded into it all. He capitalized on the angst movement and got rich off it..

I don't just listen to metal. I don't listen to much metal at allthese days. It's gay mall core. Every stupid new band is trying to be A) Deftones B) Korn or C) Slipknot. Typical band starts out with the hard groove, then hits the baseline sound effect verse..back into groove chorus..uh..boring man. And please admit to me that people that liten to rap will make fun of metal. Or vice versa. It's what people do. My god, what planet do you live on.

Bands I like right now are Hatebreed, Tool (the best), Meshuggah, Filter (yea they were NIN go figure) , Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, Lovage, Coldplay. That is my current play list. You don't see any black metal corpsepaint bands that dress in full armor with fake blood gushing out of their mouths heh.

One thing I disgree with i trying to say little goth kids that dress like the bride of Frankenstein are somehow tied with people that go to an incubus/hoobastank, tool , hatebreed show. Obviously, you're not a golfer.

I like some goth music, but I'm by no means a goth. I love NiN, however I know more goth's that hate them than like them. Classifying NiN fans as goths is goofy. Having opinions and being overly opinionated is different. I haven't seen this video that people are talking about, but I have seen the broken videos and such. Happiness in slavery is pretty brutal, but it's just an act. Does anyone have a link to this video so I can make an educated judgement on it?
