Rob was going to work for the company that makes Slusho, which requires an ingredient from deep-sea shit, which requires drilling, which we assume woke up this son of a bitch monster who wtfpwns people.

Rob also happens to want to save a hot bitch he nailed a few weeks earlier.

No. I'm saying there's no basis for this movie at all .. fabricating this rather silly notion that you would risk your own life to help your friend save a piece of ass (who was in all likelihood dead already) instead of dragging him away is just ludicrous and makes it hard to take the movie seriously.

I don't think the drilling woke it up, I think it was a crashing satellite (the splash in the water in the last Coney Island scene?) that also belonged to Tagruato. And the secret ingredient made the monster all agitated and angry. Or something. Apparently there's a mange coming out that explains a lot of the backstory, but while I thought the backstory was awesome during the ARG leading up to release, the movie eclipsed it bigtime and I'm not as concerned anymore.

I don't know what's so hard to believe about that. I don't think Hudd had ever been in a position to tell Rob what to do, seemed to me that Rob was the alpha in that dynamic. Hudd could've said whatever he wanted, Rob would have very clearly said, "Ok, you do whatever you want, I'm going back in" and Hudd wouldn't be able to bring himself to leave without Rob. That's totally believable to me, giant monster or no.

Besides, I seriously doubt the idea that Beth was just a "piece of ass" to Rob.

And I suppose the people who were videotaping in the WTC when the planes hit and continued filming until they got out were unrealistic too. Don't forget about stories of certain people going up the stairs to help others out. And all of those firefighters that went into the buildings were CGI right? theres no way people would really do that during a catastrophe. The real fire fighters said wtf dudes, who cares about those people, dipset.

And I suppose the policemen made sure to tell the thousands of people running around without a clue of what was going on that an organization named Al Qaeda led by Osama bin Laden organized the hijacking of exactly 4 different planes to attack our country.

Or you have absolutely zero taste/intelligence/are a movie exec from another company/living in an alternate reality.

Either way, you missed a big part of the movie by not watching it in a theater and experiencing it with a group of people. It was way better than any rollercoaster Ive been on and people pay a lot more than $15 to go to an amusement park and spend <60 minutes actually riding. My money was well spent.
