From the production notes of the movie (which can be found here, and is a pretty good read) JJ Abrams says flat out:

“He’s a baby. He’s brand-new. He’s confused, disoriented and irritable. And he’s been down there in the water for thousands and thousands of years.”

Regardless of what the director implies, if the creator says that, then I believe it didnt come from space.

I don't see how any of that implies that it did not come from space. If it was dropped off and dormant in the water for thousands and thousands of years it still could of been born of space.

Let's delve into the bottom of this mystery. Why does Cloverfield seem to randomly affect some people so greatly?
My roomate expected the monster to jump out at him for the next few hours. He had a distorted sense of reality for a little while after it.

It could've come from space I guess, but we don't know. I think specifically we're talking about what falls from space in the last scene though, obviously if it's been in the ocean for thousands of years then it was not the monster falling from the sky.

Ya, if it came from space 100,000 years ago, that's essentially irrelevant. In the time frame of the movie, it came from the ocean.

I asked this before and didn't get an answer, what are the reasonings behind some people absolutely hating this movie? Seems like peoples' self-hype wasn't fulfilled or they just don't like this style of movie, neither of which give any weight to saying it's a bad movie.

Was the bleeding eye / exploding person thing every explained fully? Can came up with enough theories for it but was it specifically explained in the movie or in the notes somewhere?

I'm thinking the the bite of a parasite has some nasty foreign bacteria...which explains the bleeding(How much time passed since she was bitten and the met up with the military? I seem to remember the camera being off for awhile after that incident) The time elapse would tend to shift it away from a hemotoxin.
As far as the exploding goes..someone said the hazmat guys made her explode but I dont think so. The instant she started bleeding some medical people were yelling " We got a bite here!" and it was very clear that isolating her was the number one priority. As in we need to get you away from everyone else asap cuz you gonna 'splode.

Thats my take, dunno

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Just what can be surmised from what's going on: the parasites from the monster are carrying a disease that gets transmitted at least through biting(maybe blood too, seeing as how they take her to "explode" in a more contained environment), and said disease kills you fairly quickly. A full explanation would require examination of dead parasites as well as examination of dead/still alive victims, stuff for which there is probably no time in an emergency like that(although you can see them starting to work on that area, as witnessed by the Army being shown taking away a dead parasite, isolated in a containment plastic box).

My opinion about the ending:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

As far as the ending, I don't think they nuke Central Park, I just have a hard time believing that a video camera would survive a nuclear blast, even if it's buried in rubble.

I think the likelier sequence of events is that the monster gets spooked by the repeated bombing runs and decides to go back into the water

Depends what kind of nuclear weapon they use. We have small scale tactical nukes now whose explosive blast is largely contained to a small area. Assuming the monster was still roaming Central Park though, you're right, the camera should have been destroyed.

Nuclear blasts don't really decimate everything. People and buildings survived Hiroshima.

I'm surprised no one has an Alien-type explanation for the parasite explosions. It'd be kinda wack but it's not totally outside the realm of possibility.
