Watched a tv clip, some NYNY water sanitation engineer said average tap water has been through at least seven people before it got to the pipes in your apartment.

That'd be good news.

If it wasn't harmful to the seven before you, it'll be just as harmless for you. Beware the stuff that'll make first contact with a human being in you

comment on sheilds:

TOS and its movies, sheilds are more of an outline of the ship - phasers are mostly fully obsorbed by sheilds but torpedoes often are just lessened by them- once you get to the next generation sheild tech has moved to make it like a big bubble - I think there is even mention of sheilds and hull sheilds in TNG era shows- so think of TOS having only hull sheilds.

Well she was her natural age for the birth-of-Spock scene that wont see the light of day until DVD/BluRay. They aged her for the later scenes with Quinto and those are the only ones that made it to the current cut of the film.

Not sure why the "simple mining ship" was this bad ass ship with blades and spikes everywhere (even on their mining tether chain, spikes!) but that's a pretty minor nitpick.
You need to read the prequel comics, "Countdown" it shows that after the destruction of Romulus, Nero finds the Romulan high council and they tell him about a secret base they are heading to where the Romulans are researching advance technology based on the Borg.

Nero kills them and goes to the base and has his "simple mining ship" upgraded with all the Borg tech. Basically, according to the comics, it has advanced weapons, self regenerating systems (which is why a star ship can crash into it and later on you don't notice any effect at all, even when you see a large amount of damage in the scene with the shuttlecrafts escaping when the Kelvin rams the ship) and the ability (not shown in the movie) to fire when cloaked.

As to the spikes, I guess it was to make the ship more menacing.

So wait, Nero is having a bitch fit the whole movie about Romulus being destroyed, but he ends up killing the high council *after* the planet is obliterated? WTF?

Spoilering in case

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
There is more to it. Nero was mining a planet that he barely escaped from as the star destroyed the planet. So he knew what was coming. Nero's wife was pregnant at the time of the nova. Spock warned the council that Romulus was in danger and they chose not to heed his warning as there was still distrust between Romulus and Vulcan. So nero's wife and unborn child were killed in the nova.

Because of this, and the fact that Spock was unable to stop the nova from destroying Romulus anyway, Nero hated the council and the Vulcans. This is way, in the movie, Nero states, "I do not speak for the Empire".

Warp 9.9 is "around 4 billion miles per second" (Voyager) which puts it around 21500 times the speed of light. Warp 10.0 is the limit of conventional travel through space. To go faster than that without turning into lizards and having sex with your captain, you need to exit our space/time and go with either transwarp, slipstream, wormhole, etc.

Edit: The Voyager figures seems way off, since it would take almost 2 hours just to reach Alpha Centuri from Earth, far longer than it took the movie's ships to get to Vulcan. However it would only take 4.65 years to cross the Milky Way. Far shorter than the 70 years it was supposed to take Voyager to traverse just one Quadrant. So it's all probably bullshit since no one's bothered to figure it out based on the travel time given.
Well, a couple problems. They couldn't just Warp 9 it, sit back and relax. I forget the exact time, but basically due to energy reserves and other mechanical issues, you can only stay at max warp for a rather short amount of time. There was also an issue of not having enough energy to make it back, so they'd have to search for energy sources along the way to replenish what they'd lost. Also, they couldn't just make a straight line through foreign star systems. There were many that they had to circle around to avoid conflict. So zig-zagging your way through space while trying to conserve power was the main reason why it would take so long.

If anyone remembers the last episode of TNG "All Good Things..." when they were in the future, Beverly Crushers ship pulled a Warp 13.

We also learned from something I think TNG that going over warp 10 leaves distorions or something in space time etc that can cause issues- hence the warp restricted areas or something...dont remeber the whole thing

/nerd on I think it was anything over warp 6, and the enterprise maximum warp was only something like 9.1, and it could barely get up to 9.2 or 9.3 maybe.

I actually downloaded and watched every TNG DS9 and Voyager episode over a few years. Voyager was pretty poor in general, except for Borgchick's tits, which were fantastic. /nerd off

there was one voyager episode that was very well done. forgot the name, but it was the one where a Q wanted to commit suicide. silly that a human would be put in a position of judgement (especially a woman.. especially janeway.. ugh), but the idea of the ep was brilliant. it really made me question the extents of immortality.

Now wait a minute. I remember some episode stating that Warp 10 is infinite speed (think it was the Voyager episode) and if you did you would occupy all points in space at once.

So unless they changed their numbering scale, hitting Warp 10+ is impossible.
