I really dont see how it could not suck. Perhaps it will be tolerable enough to see with my niece.

I don't think the Wachowski bros would have chose to direct a movie they thought would turn out horrible in the end. I think they'll definitely work some magic.

As long as it is shot on backgrounds with speed lines while the actors move no part of their bodies except their mouths, it shall be win.

They did the whole bullet-time stuff with Matrix that was pretty far out technically (and visually), it looks like they are doing something new again with Speed Racer:

Susan Sarandon talks about the Wachowski Brothers SPEED RACER and confirms something revolutionary

Some sort of multi-layer camera system that will focus multiple layers onto the final film. Sounds interesting...

Also interesting the movie is aiming for a G-rating.
