| Speed Racer (imax) So I was looking to see what's coming out on imax and what do you know... Speed Racer Trailer leads me to believe it will be as campy as the series. I'll probably go see since imax makes everything a little better. Speed Racer Race through the volacano is one of the only episodes that I can remember...that and there was always a team of driving goons with the same voices show after show. Whoops a thread exists 7 pages back Last edited by Ralphus : 03-13-2008 at 08:30 PM. |

+3 Internets | I am actually looking forward to this movie. Yeah, it looks retarded, but it's like a bubble gum explosion of sex in my eyes. It also looks like they've somehow managed to pull it off right, which is pretty impressive considering it's fucking speed racer. It does looks campy, but it looks like they've done it well. It's got just the right amount of serious to make it funny. Too many movies know that they are campy and try to overplay that with *wink* *wink* *nod* acting or way over the top melodrama and that just fucking ruins it all. Delivering comically bad lines seriously is what makes a campy movie good. Dear God, does John Goodman do that in the trailer. |

QUOTE] When I first read about this I thought its fucking speed racer, how do you make a movie out of that! But the trailer looks good, it reminds me of a 70's movie called Rollerball, which is a good solid underlying plot, if done right. I will be seeing it for sure. |

| Registered User | I saw this tonight, and it was everything I thought it would be; cheesy, funny, family-oriented, and visually amazing. I had a lot of fun watching this movie. It is great popcorn fare, and if you're looking for something to fill a couple of hours, this will do it. Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

| It wasn't exactly what I expected. I would have liked them to be a little edgier, but they rode the line. All the "adult" content was tongue in cheek. The races and fight scenes were really fantastic. They exceeded my expectations entirely. |

| Christina Ricci is hot; that's all I've got. Between her and Gwynneth Paltrow in Iron Man it's been a definite step in the right direction. Enjoyed the movie well enough, would have preferred a PG-13 rather than PG so they could have a bit more grit to it, but it was in line with the original series. Spoiler Alert, click show to read: |
