Will the movie get an R rating? SOunding like NC 17 to me. Which it totally fine with me.

Yeah, an R. From a previous discussion in the Hostel 2 thread, I learned that the horror movie genre need to avoid NC-17 ratings like the plague. Supposedly, the income for an R rating is bad enough. An NC-17 wouldn't even profit.

Horror movies net a lot of money though, amd most of them are Rated R. First off, they are relatively cheap to make compared to all other movies because they don't require huge sets, expensive scripts, famous actors, special effects, and so on. You take a bunch of nobody actors going on a trip somewhere give them a 20 min intro to get to know them and see them having fun then put them in some remote location and have a killer chase them for 100 minutes. So the budgets for horror movies are very low but horror movies seem to have a loyal fan base and usually make a decent profit. Example: The first Saw movie cost $1.2 million and took in $103 million (All, three Saw movies have brought in $415.7 million worldwide in ticket sales and cost $15.2 million to make). The big money maker was the Blair Witch Project which cost like $35,000 to make and made $140 million in the US Box Office alone and I think it was rated R. Basically, before 2006, Horror films made an average of $53 million a film in the domestic theaters alone, so all you had to do was make a Horror film for $1-2 million dollars and you had a nice big profit of $50 million even before international and dvd sales.

BUT...here is the problem and it is not the rating:

The problem is that the studios have figured out how easy it is to make profits off of horror movies and they all want to make money from Horror movies so they are all jumping into the market and releasing their own Saw-like ripoffs. It is a huge resurgence of horror movies. But this recent resurgence of Horror movies is now saturating the market and lowering profits, your basic supply and demand. Horror films are now averaging $24.6 million in ticket sales this year, down 25 percent from 2006. In 2000 there were just 7 horror movies made, this year there has to be 100+ that are being released, that is why the profits are down in horror movies these days because the market is being saturated.

I read about it in the Boston Globe: Movie executives seeing red - The Boston Globe

Also here is a new TV spot trailer I saw on Spike the other day:

I like that more than the actual trailer.
Anyways, I can get the gist of what you're saying. I was just told otherwise. Not to mention, look at Hostel II and Slither. Hostel II leaked two weeks before the release (should have released it early 2007 as intended sir Eli!) and Slither had disaster written all over it, though it still managed to receive 85%? or so on Rotten Tomatoes.

Oh my god! One month until Halloween! . . . . . . . the movie.
Which leads me to ask - Why have the last three Halloween installments been released in the summer time? I'm aware that Saw IV would disappointingly be competition for this movie, but I never quite "got it."

It's hard to believe that it's already been a year since the project was revealed. I'm so excited!

Halloween V came on AMC last night. Sleep-watching this (falling asleep and waking up with the clashing of suspense and Michael Myer's chasing scenes) was pretty freaky. It brought back old times.

Movie clips have been released! Please avoid spoiling yourself (tease~). I definitely haven't watched them, but I am here to entertain. The clips are noted to have been "extremely edited" (they were released to yahoo movies).

Clip#2
Clip#3
Clip#4
Clip#5

The Official Rob Zombie Halloween Myspace has been heavily updated since its debut. Just by clicking the link, you can hear a pretty awesome quote from Dr.Loomis himself! Along with the updated theme, and a few song clips from the soundtrack.

Oh.. and is it me, or can you distinguish Sherri Moon's HORRIBLE acting just by listening to the dialog? Some of the clips are heavily disappointing me. It's like the third installment of House of 1000 Corpses

Movie was meh. I read they're changing it for the theatres because it got a poor screening though. Maybe it will be better. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't horrible, just weak.

Terrible ending too, but I read they changed that also~

I didn't mind the ending at all. I found the movie to be fitting for the series.. McDowell was excellent as Dr. Loomis as well.

I don't see how they can change much if it is releasing in 5 days.. which baffles me. How can you not release this at the end of Oct.?

Pretty decent slasher flick overall I guess, though it's not really my preferred genre.

Well I might have the final cut, I haven't been following this closely. It's not really my preferred genre either.

Spoiler~ The one I watched he got shot to death by McDowell in the pool. I thought that was lame.

That's the one I saw but something happens after that too. Like 10 minutes or so more.

This is the version I saw as well. I liked the ending. Overall, it was a pretty decent. I really enjoyed how we saw Michael grow into the monster we know and love.

I have to admit, I really felt sympathetic for him. His mother too.. There were a lot of raw and brutal scenes in the movie that weren't just stabbity stabs.

I'm pretty sure you guys watched the original version (before the pre-shoot). At least, it seems that way according to Malcolm McDowell's interview.

Oh, and it seems one version is all over the internet. Many people who are aware that I've been waiting for this movie a long time now.. have been sending me links left and right.

If you want to see the true version, wait until Friday. Jesus~
