And that is why Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are better then A New Hope and all three prequels.

I agree there. Although a good actor, Hayden was probably a poor choice for Anakin. He just did not seem right for the part. His looks and manner just didnt 'feel' right. Although you do point out that the script was pretty cheesy at times. Almost soap opera-like even.

The one thing that really chaps my hide is the last 20 minutes of the 3rd film. The final battle between Anakin and Obi started out great, then it dwindled and the fire, so to speak, ran out at the end. Very anti-climatic at best.

But my greatest fear of Lucas killing all that is holy about episode 4-6 is this new TV Series coming out. NOTHING good can come of it. I just cant see 26 yearly 60 minute episodes being nothing more then a chance to sell more Pepsi with R2D2 printed on the can or FED-Ex shipping ads bragging how fast they can ship your pacakge on a Kessel Run.

As for Jake Lloyd, I liked him. He took some pretty weak lines and kinda made them funny in a kid way. Sure it looked like he was reading from cue cards at times, but he still played his role fairly well. You need to consider too, alot of this acting was done on a green screen or to a stick with a tennis ball on top of it representing the location of the CGI actor they were talking too. thats got to be pretty tough even for an adult actor to pull off let alone a little kid.

Hayden's Anakin/Vader was such a whiney little douche that I was hoping he would "die in a fire"... Almost got my wish.

They wouldn't train me Whaaaa... They don't respect me... Whaaa.. They are hurting my mommy.. Whaaaa..

There was no evil.. just insecurity. At least the way that Hayden/Lucas protrayed it though the acting/writing.

"He's more machine now than man... Whiney and douchey"

To answer the original question,

I think we can assume from the scenes with the "younglings" [ugh] in AOTC that Yoda was responsible for training jedi kids until the time they were ready to become a padawan and train solely under one jedi..which in Obi Wans case was Qui Gonn.

I'm kind of ashamed at answering that, the prequels killed my love for Star Wars too.

Hah that's funny; I dated a girl who went to high school with the Anakin of EP2 & 3.

bare bones you can think of a plot as a formula. for instance, there's a clear objective, a plan, a fight and then the resolution (you win the fight)

starting with ep1 - there is no clear objective, there is no plan of attack, and you have a 6 year old kid accidently getting into a space ship, accidently flying into the big space station, accidently blowing it up and thus accidently winning the war for them.

this is more gay than jar jar binks could produce in a billion years

After years of hating the prequels, i came up with a solution.
I pretend they have nothing to do with the original Star Wars.
Now, whenever they come on cable i can watch them and enjoy them as cheesy action flicks.

I cannot acknowledge that the Anakin Skywalker of the prequels is in any way, shape or form related to Darth Vader. The most baddass villian ever in any film.

Attack of the clones is the only good flick of the three anyhow.
Revenge of the Sith is just awful.

CUE JAMES EARL JONES VOICE" I find your lack of plot, script, good acting disturbing, George Lucas"

By live action you mean couple of actors in front of a green screen with cgi landscapes, effects and other characters?

Pretty much my take on it as well. The scene where he loses his cool and is ranting to Padame about Obi-Wan "holding him back" and throws something across the room makes me cringe every time. Its like watching a late-teenager throw a 5 year old temper tantrum. Fucking horrible!

I honestly dont know if its the fault of Lucas or the actor himself, but I do not feel he was right for the part at all. When I watched that "Eragon" movie (no comments on it) with my girlfriend, her first comment when we walked out was, why couldnt that guy have played Anakin for EP2&3. Age issue aside, I knew her point was the fact there are other teen actors who look a hell of a lot more natural in their roles. Hayden-douchebag did not pull it off at all.

I remember Luke being a whiny little bitch until the 3rd movie too. Guess it just runs in the family.
