If you want a concensus of what most people think of a movie, go the IMDB. If you wanna know what the critics think of a movie, go to Rottentomatoes.

Of course you don't understand. You think it's a drug movie. I mean, what were your comments, "it's neat to look at, and it was cool watching them do drugs." You probably watched ID4 more than once, too. (sorry I know it's annoying, but I love how stupid that is, Indep Day 4?.....ok..)

P.S. What, no more Ebert Searyx!? I've been reading the suntimes more often now because you put the addy in the sticky on top of this board. (Personally, I think Ebert is a very well informed, intelligent individual. However, some of the movies he rates as good, and bad strike me as a 12 yr. old writing his reviews when he's out sick.) hehe

whoa eager, don't bust a nut just because I don't like your favorite movie. And yes, it is possible to appreciate the imagery of something without getting into the content, but just because I like the way one movie looks doesn't mean I base my opinion of all movies on that. And bringing Independence Day into this... Low blow

Not my favorite movie, not even close. I understand, and agree with you that it's possible to appreciate the setting and not the story as it were. A lot of people on this board could learn from you though, as you took my miniscule flame in stride. hah..

As to the start of your reply... not possible. If I ever evolve a pair though, you'll be the first to know.

It was about as intense a story can get about 4 peoples 'worst case scenaro' interaction w/ drugs. AT first it was intertaining, the weight drugs and the kitchen were great, almost comical but very good. Towards the end, it was just 'how bad can this person's life be'.

Pi was ok, I can't get into a movie where I can't belive the premis(sp?) though. A computer spits out the true name of God when it locks up?

This is probably

One of the most distubingly good movies ive ever seeen. The downward spiral that is the last 45mins or so is like a train wreck that you can't help but watch and leaves you feeling completely spent emotionally. Rented it when it came out on DVD and bought it the day after I saw it.

I'm really looking forward to Aronofski's direction of the next Batman flick.

www.imdb.com

Just wanted to elaborate on www.imdb.com which is the "Internet Movie Database" its the single best source of statistical information on movies. It also covers Videogames, direct to video and some books. Like someone already mentioned it is a very good source for ratings as well, it gives a good idea of what the general public thinks of a movie. After a movie has been released you can write reviews and rate the movie. When movies are rated for star value (out of 10) it not only gives the average but lets you know how many votes comprised the average. Like 500,000 votes on Star Wars which equaled an 8.2 rating or whatnot.

I'm also pleased that someone brought up the fact that this is a movie that parents should show their kids. I agree whole heartedly, I think this is an important movie for people to see. It shows what addiction of any kind can do to a person / family. I thought the acting and especially the direction in the movie was just super. I had to buy the DVD to see it the first time as I refuse to watch edited movies (one of the reasons I have yet to see American Psycho), and I did not regret it. Since my purchase I have lent the movie to many people I know including my parents to have them watch it So far a thumbs up from everyone, they all did admit though it was a movie that after watching they flet drained. Not because it was slow but its pace works up and up and up like the high one gets from their addiction. Just before final climax then letdown, great job.

And you people must realize this. Requiem was and is nothing like what it is to be addicted to these drugs. It's a FAR cry from real life and how drugs go.

The message, the emotion attached to addiction is very very accurate but as far as the drugs go... but then it's the message that counts
