2007 Most Misleading Trailers (spoilers)

We mentioned this in some other thread.

Man, I hate misleading trailers.

2007 is off to a good start:

Primeval:
The trailer mentions a "serial killer" who has claimed more than 300 victims and "remains at large.". Kill counts are compared to Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac Killer. Clips are shown wich appear to be of the typical serial-killer type. Actual plot: A news team is sent to Central Africa to capture a notorious killer known as "Gustave," who is supposed to have claimed over 300 human victims. Little did they know the 'killer' is actually a crocodile.

The Number 23:
The trailer intimated there was a satanic plot with attendant conspiracies that might include the main character's wife, all centered around a mysterious book that the wife gave to him. It looked wicked interesting. The actual plot is too stupid to go into.

Breach:
Trailer focuses on pictures of a car trunk full of assault weapons, some dead Russian soldiers, and one of the main characters firing a pistol in apparent action scenes. While this is a pretty good movie, there is no action and it's nothing like the trailer. The three scenes shown were the only scenes with weapons, and there was no action.

They're trying to hide the fact its a croc because the inevitable comparisons to the shit-tastic bflicks like "Alligator" will no doubt be made despite the fact it's based on a true story. Although I dont recall the researchers running for their lives ;p They just wasted their time trying to catch it.

I'd have to say the most misleading trailer I've seen in a long time was the one for Dreamgirls, back when it claimed that movie was coming out Christmas '04! Why it sat on the shelf for 2 years, no one knows...

But yeah, I kept seeing the Primevil trailer on tv and I got curious, so I wiki'd it and I find out it's about a fucking mythical crocodile.

Ugh! me, the wife and friends went to see the movie. Wife said, " It has to be good! the trailer didn't ruin anything".
This movie was flat out horrid, and the sad part is the movie theater was completely packed full, we had to sit in the front row. Talk about everyone getting scammed out of $9 a ticket.

I'm fairly certain if you didn't pick up on the fact that the 'killer' wasn't some beast from hell or some such, you're probably retarded. There was nothing misleading about Primeval. At all.

No, you're very wrong. They've changed the ads due to complaints.

It was initially billed as a serial killer movie, period. If you didn't see the original ad, why are you chiming in? Very lame.

Yeah, the original trailer was ridiculously misleading (not that I'd really want to see the movie either way, but...). The original trailer, if I remember correctly, even went so far as to use the pronoun "he" to refer to the "serial killer" -- making it seem as though it were a human being.

The voice over said something to the effect of "He is the most notorious serial killer in US history. He has over 300 victims and counting, and he's still at large. Based on a true story."

I had no freakin' idea it was about a crocodile until I read this thread. Again, I don't really care about the spoiler, since this is a spoiler-labeled thread, and I have no intention of seeing the movie. But still: the original trailer was totally misleading.

When a movie premise sucks so much ass that they have to lie in the trailers to get people to see the movie; then maybe just maybe the fucker should have never been given the green light to begin with.

The Original Trailer was very misleading. Here’s the teaser with some added stupidity from some assclown at youtube. This was the best one I could find looks like they had all the others removed to cover their own bullshit.

Not really. It did say all that, but then it goes on to mention how it lived in the swamps or some shit, and how it's been around since the dawn of man or some other shit. Basically if you only listened to one part of it, yeah, I can see how you might think it's a 'serial killer' movie. But I knew from the get go that some mythic fucking killer in the swamps of whatever third world continent they were on was NOT some dipshit shaman with penchant of eating human hearts.
