| Goal! 2 Managed to catch a copy of a private screening and honestly, it's fucking dreadful. I was a bit worried about this because the first one followed such a stereotypical feel good sports movie script. It doesn't seem to have much direction and it's more of a shitty soap opera than a sports movie 80% of the time. The biggest problem is Santi's development as a character. Kuno Becker can play the man in peril very well, but as an arrogant superstar, his character just doesn't work.
I doubt anyone else has seen it yet unless you downloaded it since it's the private screening was in the UK (it doesn't hit US theaters for another 3 weeks or so), but I just think it doesn't work. Everything moves way too fast and I think it would of worked better if they had left him at Newcastle and focused around them triumphing in the Champions League (I'm convinced the only reason he was moved was because they wanted real Champions League footage).
Overall the movie just didn't do it for me. The first one had a ton of replay value as everything just semeed to focus around him at Newcastle. Here, while is change is attitude certainly shows in his play, it focuses way too much on the personal lives of the main characters.
