+20 Internets | The Science of Sleep I created a thread last year for this but I can't find it now. Anyway it will be out on DVD soon and I finally saw it the other day. I really enjoyed the movie, by the trailer you may think it's just another one of the same movies that look like it, but it doesn't follow the formula at all. I really liked the main character Stephane and I thought his acting was incredibly well done. It's not quite as good as Eternal Sunshine (same director) but all the same I really liked it and it's now one of my favorites of 2006. here's the trailer for anyone who forgot what this was: Apple - Trailers - The Science of Sleep |

| I'd give the movie a solid 8/10 I felt like a lot of the movie was basically an excuse to show off many of michele gondry’s (the director) eccentric artsy ideas. Even when they did not contribute to the characters or the plot. When those unique scenes did compliment the movie the results were great. I actually wish the plot was more fleshed out. It is still a good movie especially if you don't want to see the standard formula again.

+10 Internets | Well there's Human Nature (that I never saw) and you can find that type of very original story telling in Adaptation and Being John Malkovitch (written by Kaufman who wrote also Human Nature and then Eternal Sunshine based on a story by Gondry). There is a tenderness in Gondy's stories that do not really exist in Kaufman's works though. And Charlotte Gainsbourg is not in any of the other movies ![]()

+2 Internets | Coincidentally, just saw this movie last night. Playing a French/Mexican never looked so believable. But I think the ideas portrayed in this movie were astounding. Like the comparison of sleep to the event horizon & black holes. That shit was mind-boggling. Lots of messages in that movie. Storyline played a very small roll as the focus seemed to be solely on relationships. Still a good flick, I could imagine some people may feel dissapointed with the ending, but it made perfect sense to me.

+20 Internets | Personally I loved the ending --spoilers after this line of text---and the fact that she didn't suddenly want to be his lover. I love the guy who played Stephane, I just saw him in "The King" too (weird movie) and the guy is pretty good. |

+8 Internets | I really loved the movie. It was definitely very ... different. Gael Garcia Bernal is a great actor, first movie I had seen him in was "Amores Perros" which was an awesome movie.

+20 Internets | You can definitely tell some of his ideas from the movies came from early video works he did (knives out and human behavior especially). Most of the videos he's done are the best the artists ever had, so I don't know why he doesn't have more to his name |

+10 Internets | More? He did a truck load as far as I know (I would like to say 20ish)... including his own band at the time (can't remember the name) and several chemical brothers video. Well wikipedia lists 70ish Michel Gondry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia but there are prolly some mistakes (pretty sure Bjork's Isobel is made by the same people that did Smashing Pumkin's Tonigh, Tonight - two fench people but not Gondry EDIT: scratch that, the couple I was thinking of is not even french... they did Little Miss Sunshine though!).
