| X-Files 2... Maybe IGN: Duchovny Confirms X-Files 2... Again March 28, 2007 - X-Files star David Duchovny and series creator Chris Carter have been talking about a second X-Files motion picture for years. However, the talk has remained just that — talk — with 1998's mid-series movie marking the high point in the X-Files franchise. Is there more truth out there waiting to be pursued, cornered, and analyzed by Fox Mulder and Dana Sculley? Apparently so, for firm plans are finally underway to make a new film based on the popular paranormal-themed show. Duchovny told the press, as reported on the IESB.net website, this week that he and co-star Gillian Anderson are in final negotiations for The X-Files II. In fact, he was confident enough to say that a deal would probably struck by the end of the week, with filming to commence in 2008. There is no script for the film yet, but Duchovny suggested it would follow up on the core stories of both the series and the movie. It's worth remembering, however, that when Duchovny was previously in negotiations for the movie back in 2005, he stated they were working on a story that would focus on the supernatural rather than the alien conspiracy that dominated the film and most of the series. Additionally, it's not clear whether any use will be made of the screenplay Frank Spotnitz was hired to write in 2006. Spotnitz was then under orders to ignore the X-Files alien mythology in favor of a fresh story. If previous work on the film is being discarded, does that mean we get another film based on the intriguing alien plot and mythology of the TV series?

| xfiles imo hit its stride in year 3-4. but the series owned. got a few seasons on dvd and plan on getting the rest eventually. when scanning thru the tv, if xfiles is on, the clicker stops so we can see which episode it is on. |

+66 Internets | the only episodes worth watching were the ones about the main, continuing storyline. Otherwise it was just formulaic crap with people stuttering a lot. It -really- turned to shit once fox/scully became 'guest stars' in the last season. |

+3 Internets | It's funny. I actually feel the opposite way. I hated the episodes dealing with the main storyline (which I thought sucked, by the way) and much prefered the self-contained episodes dealing with random monsters/aliens/phenomena. |

+38 Internets | There was one about vampires that was pretty awesome, that one still sticks out in my mind after all these years. As well as the one with Giovani Ribisi that had "Hey Man Nice Shot" in the soundtrack, that one was sweet. Or at least memorable. I watched it habitually the first two seasons, but stopped by the end of probably the 4th. It was just too hard to follow the ongoing plotline if you missed shows, and this was before the advent of file sharing and bit torrent. |

+25 Internets | P.S. For whatever reason, it's hard for me to watch reruns on whatever station it is that runs them. I just can't get into the series like I once was. Perhaps it's because all I've got on reruns were the shitty episodes. |

+25 Internets | Yeah, and they found the mom/sister/daughter tied to a fucking board that slid underneath the bed, that they would take out and fuck whenver they felt like it. No legs and arms iirc. And then she didn't want to be taken away? Holy fucking shit. Yeah, that episode was sheer awesome. EDIT: Yeah, here we go...best episode ever: Schwicky.net - The X-Files - 4.

I was always a big fan of the 1 shot supernatural episodes, but I've got to say from the short bursts of it I've seen flipping the channels that the series doesn't at all feel like it's aged well to me. | |
